Crashed my car but my renewal quote is cheaper than last year

Options
The renewal notice I received from Churchill has a 2 years no claims discount on it. However, I had a crash this summer, which was my fault and I reported it to Churchill. Pretty sure I don't have any no claims discount protection either.

Should I keep quiet, or should I fess up and pay up?

How many no claims did you have to start with? a claim will often take a few years off,
  • Definitely keep quiet, as long as you have been truthful with them.

I had 1 year no claims when I renewed the policy last year... so 2 years would be correct if I hadn't had that accident.

As much as I hate saying this.... It's probably worth telling them, as when they find out they won't send a letter saying
    Dear Mr Eddidaz

    You'll never guess what, lol.
We forgot you had a crash last year PMSL but 'cos it was our fault we'll let you off and you can keep the 2 years NCD

    Dear Mr Eddidaz

It has come to our attention that you failed to inform us of an accident when you renewed your insurance. Because of this your premium has increased by £1000 payable immediately; failure to pay will result in your policy being cancelled and a bill for the outstanding balance.

    Mr B'stard

If you can't pay the increase when they want it you'll end up with a cancelled policy and have to declare that you had one cancelled, when trying to get another.

I have been truthful, however, there's a section called "Duty of Disclosure" on the renewal that says I have to tell them if any info has changed. I did tell them, but it looks like they forgot.

I'm worried if I need to make another claim they'll dig a bit deeper and declare my insurance invalid. I'm also wary of searching for other quotes in case they find out somehow.

See I could deal with that outcome; it's the worst case scenario of an accident that ends up costing me thousands because they won't pay out that scares me.

Did you or anyone else make a claim off your policy after this accident? It there has been no claim, then your NCD will be unaffected.

What you could do, is try finding another quote with you two years NCD seeing as you've proof of 2 years NCD... and declaring the accident. If you get one at a decent price, cancel the Churchill insurance and go to the other, proof of NCD and a declared accident, perfectly legal.

You should phone Churchill and find out if there has been a claim against your insurance. If yes then you do not have any ncb.

Even if you are unsure and say yes you have 2 yrs ncb and later find out you have lost them , they will say you have witheld information.

So I phoned Churchill and they explained that there is a non-fault claim on my insurance and that means the 2 years ncb is still valid. Well I hit a guy from behind and I'm pretty sure it was my fault. He briefly asked me what happened because he couldn't see any further details about the claim, but I didn't want to get into it too much in case I shoot myself in the foot here.

Are their records just wrong? Am I lucky and in the clear to just let it renew? I'm tempted to get some other quotes but also a bit wary about filling the internet with details about my accident.
