Cheap MOT?

I find it cheaper to go to a MOT center that does not do repairs. Even if you have to pay £50.
At least you know that they are not looking for work for the rest of the business.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
Remember a cheap MOT is sometimes false economy as the testers judgement may be slightly higher to cover the cheap price. eg what may only be an advisory to many testers would be fail.0

Maybe not the cheapest around (£45), but they passed my old banger first time and have a no-pass-no-fee policy: http://www.thetestcentre.co.uk/Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
mots are a standard price if you get it cheaper i gaurentee they will pull you up on something to get your money back0

VOSA have a maximum price and round my way, due to competition, I don't know anyone apart from main dealers, who charge it. There is the pond life though that charge £9.99 (yes, less than a tenner) but newbees go there once before having their cars condemned as dangerous wrecks needing major, expensive surgery.0

If you have a new car (3 years old) going for its first MOT and is in immaculate condition then I would go for a cheap deal, otherwise go to a garage which does not do repairs, might cost an extra £20 but will prob cost over £200 to have the !!!!take valves and headlight fluid pumps changed if you go for one of the "cheap" mot garages.0

see my first post.. council is £50.
Halfords are doing it for £27 if u book online.. Any comments about them?0 -
Sorry didn't notice your quote was for the council depot. I see with halfords that you have to pay for a re-test if you get repairs carried out elsewhere. If their garage prices are anything like the prices on shelf in the shop then it could be expensive, although if you're pretty sure it'll pass then it could be a good bargain (if not Benjus' link looks interesting.)0
