Cash only bank account

Hi,

Are there bank accounts that supply a cash card for only withdrawing cash, i.e. not a VISA / etc for online / instore transactions?

Thanks

Chris

  • there are some firms that offer prepiad cards, though the cut they take for crediting / spending money is not worth it..

have a look for the pos office, or Co-op bank..

I have a NatWest step account, which I got even with a crappy credit history, no job etc.. visa debit cash card, standing orders, can also check balances etc by automated phone, or online..

there is no overdraft, so no standard fees!

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

If you look at this list of basic bank accounts (page 5) http://www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk/_assets/downloads/pdfs/your_money/a5_guides/basic_bank_accounts.pdf, there are a few that have no debit card, such as the hsbc basic account and the santander basic account. Most other basic accounts do come with some form of debit card.

There may be other accounts - you could try asking on this section Budgeting & Bank Accounts

The Yorkshire BSoc internet saver pays 2.1% and comes with an ATM card. You will do very well to beat that.

The smile savings account only gives a cash card (not VISA or Mastercard).

If you keep on doing what's you've always done, you'll keep on being what you've always been...
  • With all of HSBC's current accounts you can request to have a self service card, although apart from the basic bank account most will automatically offer a debit card.
