The La croix site is pretty good but there is a lot of paying rides trampolines etc .

yeah i know a few euros here and there every day !

we have 2 sons but they arent the "i want" types lol ;)

so were happy with one go each per day etc,on the trampolines and we had a go on the pedalos, what a laugh :o

but i can imagine it would get expensive if you had say 4 kids wanting to go numerous times !!

they weere equally as happy to play on the beach and feed the ducks ( and one particular nasty goose !
    :rotfl: )

I appreciate your comments on the croix site. I have found another deal with Canvas holidays and we are going to book up with them. We are staying at Croix for 13 nights purely because we have never driven in France before so we thought we wouldn't try to be too adventurous by doing a two centre. It is a couple of hundred pounds dearer than with Leisure Direction ( I am still waiting for my account to be credited back by the way ) but it is the site most suited to our needs this year , ie. close enough to Disney, plenty to do on site etc.
I wouldn't take my daughter out of school early this year as she is leaving primary school and doesn't finish up till the Friday and i think it is more important for her to have her last few days/end of term concerts etc, but I agree that it is a good idea to save a lot of money.

I am getting better at all this though, I tentatively asked Canvas holidays if I would save money by booking on the internet ( the site promised savings if you did) and the nice chap gave me the discount anyway.

Thanks for your good wishes. To say we are excited is just a slight understatement ! I am gathering up all the pics and info about the site I can and putting them together so that we are well prepared and get the best out of our long-awaited holiday. Any suggestions for what's good to do in the area would be really helpful. Hope Etangs is just as nice for you.:j

I have worked and sold holidays on both La Croix and Etangs, also have visited both parks for holidays with family. Everyone enjoyed La Croix by far much greater facilites and atmosphere.

The extra drive into Disney is well worth it when staying at La Croix. And of course its also about the same distance from Parc Asterix which we enjoyed greatly. Not as busy as Disney but plenty to do.

Leisure Direction are good at selling holidays they dont have. They take the money then try the operators that they are selling on behalf of. If they cant get what you want they come back and tell you. But that is very dissapointing when you are convinced they have booked it for you.

Thanks for that, I didn't realise that's what Leisure Direction were doing, I innocently thought that saying on the website it was available and taking the full price of the holiday at the time of booking that it was really available. Ho hum , you live and learn. We fancied Parc Asterix as one of out "musts" for the hols, nice to have it personally recommended :).

    :(

ive just been checking the LD site, and eg a week in france inc eurotunnel return travel is a good few hundred pounds cheaper than all the others !!! ( and can get 6% back with quidco ;) )

Does ANYONE have a good experience to relay about leisure Direction ? lol

i guess if you booked well enough in advance

I think that's the thing, if you can book well in advance or be a wee bit flexible with your travel dates you can save a lot of money. We couldn't this year, but it is worth thinking about in the future. Remember that you have to pay the whole thing at the time of booking, so if you are booking well in advance, you need to have the money upfront.I got my money back yesterday so that's okay now.

We stayed at the La croix site last Oct, the kids (9 & 5) thorougly enjoyed it.
We also booked through Canvas who sent a great information pack, the Mobile home was well equiped and spotless, nice swimming pool on site with chute and flumes, changing rooms could do with refurbishment though.
Canvas staff were very nice but absolutely useless if you were looking for information on things to do outside the Camp.
The drive to Disney is fairly straightforward, We also did a day trip to Paris , we drove to Orry La Ville station and took the RER (Green D1 Line) see link belowhttp://www.ratp.info/orienter/f_plan.php?loc=reseaux&nompdf=rer&fm=gif&lang=ang&partenaire=
The return tickets can also be used on the Metro, I cant remember the exact cost but it was very reasonable.
There is a riding school across the road form the camp were you can hire a pony for 10Euros per hour.
Compiegne is a nice town and well worth a visit, there is a huge Carrefour supermarket just outside the town which has a great Restaurant called Flunch next door. Flunch is a bit like an upmarket self-service Little Chef but with healthier food, its great value and there is a great choice, kids even get a free half decent toy.
If I can think of any more recommendations I will let you know.
