What is the problem that Verified by Visa has with checking your password? About half of the times when I go through the process of entering my password for a transaction it says it is incorrect, when I know for sure that I have entered it correctly with great care.

I'm going to start using a card that doesn't require me to go through this faulty process as I am sick to death of having this problem so often.

Good luck considering Mastercard have the same system under a different name.

This is exactly what happens to me. VBV pops up but it says processing without asking for my password. My problem is, is that sometimes it works and sometimes it get denied even when I have the funds.

How are they determining what seems fraudulent? how will they get it right every time? Surely they will deny genuine transactions, am I suppose to call them each time? This is ridiculous. I hope they can change it back for me. I never forget my password, I use it across the internet.

I suppose I will have to see what they say about it.

I believe that normally, when the VBV checks says processing without asking for passwor, it will then depend on the payment processor to approve / claim the payment or not. If they set VBV/MSC is required, the payment will be declined.
  • Verified By Visa stopped asking me for a password on the Trainline last week. That payment went through, but everything I've tried to do with the card since (with the exception of taking cash out at ATMs) is now being declined. Frustrating. I suspect the transaction has been flagged as potentially fraudulent, even though I regularly use the card to buy tickets. It's going to be seriously annoying if I have to ring up the Halifax to confirm it's not fraud, every time I want to buy online... Also, I went into my local branch afterwards to check whether something had been flagged on my account. Not only did the staff member not know or help me with my problem at all, she also took the opportunity to try to sell me a load of stuff, e.g. a nice ISA. Unwelcome!!!
  • I really really really really do hope that you are not saying that you use the same single password for everything.........banking/credit cards/internet forums?

I was thinking the same thing......

    Crazy

I just registered to post a comment and was warned NOT to use the same password as elsewhere, it's common sense.

I had the same problem, no password required, contacted Visa who said some UK issuers were authenticating without passwords. So why don't they let us know they are? Halifax certainly didn't. I prefer to put in a password, gives me an added sense of security. I have never had a transaction refused or been asked to reset my password, so I am happy with the system.

I had an online transaction declined yesterday by VBV/HS, its infuriating when the funds are there.
  • I have been having problems for several years because it will not remember passwords, you reset the password, write it down then the next time you try to use the system it says wrong password, you then have to reset the password once again, I now have several A4 sheets of paper with passwords, today tried to put money on Lottery account and failed, when you contact the bank they say nothing to do with them, Camelot are also not listening to problems, I now intend to boycott sites that use the verified by Visa system, but will email the Company to let them know the money they have just lost, I would suggest that everyone with problems do the same

Fraid I'm guilty of that.:o Wouldn't remember all of the passwords i needed to use on the computer.
The bank has more secure passwords for me, so i don't have to worry there.

Do you have a joint account. My parents had lots of problems with Verified by Visa on their joint account, it kept getting them mixed up despite using their own cards and not each others.
