Buyer hasn't paid after 4 days and I'd like to keep the item. Can I cancel the sale?

The title sums it up really. I sold a nice bag for 99p, and afterwards, I rather wish I'd kept it. So can I cancel the sale seeing as she hasn't paid after 4 days?

Tis my own fault if I can't, I put it on for 99p, I just wondered...

Start a Non Paying Bidder dispute,if she pays send it, if she doesnt pay within another 4 days exactly close the dispute keep the bag and get your Final fees refunded.

Thanks Steve. Is the only way to cancel the sale to open a dispute and wait 4 days?

You can try a mutual cancellation but they may reject it.

You could try and bluff it a bit, Contact them and say you noticed you had not posted it and logged in to find they had not paid, Whilst looking you found some damage.

Would they like to do a mutual cancellation to avoid a non paying bidder strike and costs to send/return the item.

Might work. But leaves them open to not pay for the next item they bid on.

Please don't. Just open a NPB case and hope they don't pay.

If you go for a mutual cancellation the buyer can refuse and you have to send the bag anyway.

If you lie about it being damaged and the mutual is accepted the buyer will probably think (correctly) that you're just trying to get out of the sale and can trash your DSRs, leave you negative feedback and report you as a non performing seller.

If you lie about the bag being damaged and the buyer doesn't accept the mutual they'll know you were just trying to get out of the sale and can trash your DSRs and leave you negative feedback.

If you open a NPB dispute either the buyer pays and is happy to have got a bargain from a seller who accepts their responsibilities or they don't pay and you get your fvfs back, keep the bag and the buyer gets a strike and can't leave you feedback.

I agree don't lie about the bag being damaged- you are very likely to end up with bad feedback and trashed stars.

Buyers are not stupid, they know sellers don't like selling for 99p and the first thing they think of when you tell them the item was damaged is that you are lying. Too many threads on sites like this recommending peopel do stupid things has made buyers very suspicious.

    Just open a full NPB

I'd listen to these wise words!!

Just curious, never had to do it before, can you do nothing for 8 days then open and close the NPB dispute on the same day, or do you still have to give the buyer 4 days to respond. May also help the OP if you can.

No you can't , the NPB must be open for the full 4 days.

Personally I'd do nothing. Since you want the item, opening any kind of dispute or mutual request may prompt the buyer to pay.

If you do nothing, they'll probably do nothing.

You're only losing 10p in FVF's so I'd leave it.
