I can remember when Milton Keynes was built. The whole country was amazed that a new town was being built, and, equally amazed when they put those plastic cows in the fields. Lol. Are they still there?

They're not plastic...they're concrete and yes they are still there...well, sort of. The originals are in midsummer place in the city centre and the copies are in the field. I remember when there was an outbreak of foot and mouth, some wag out red and White tape round them and a washing ip bowl of disinfectant at the entrance to the enclosure....
Another time, some joker painted them cycadelic glow in the dark colours...groovy.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

I spent a year(ish) living in Wolverton as a child. I'm surprised it's got such a bad press - I have nothing but fond memories of living there. Was 20 years ago mind.0

The Hub has plenty of flats for rent, but be careful, some floors/blocks are full of - shall we say - people of limited means, and ladies of negotiable virtue..... negotiate hard on the rent, my office overlooks some, and some have been up for rent for weeks and weeks. I'm not convinced of the build quality either.
Vision ones better built, but I would never buy a flat anywhere, could be good to rent for a while to get used to the area.
Shenley Lodge/Church End is probably a nice balance between access to the centre/train station, and being a nice estate. £3.00/£5.00 taxi ride babck home after a night out. Walkable from the train station of a nice evening. Nice pub in Shenley Lodge too.Unless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%0 -
I'm on Oxley Park, it's nice, right on the edge of town, nice woods for walks but not far from the centre if you bike/car/bus it. "The Shenleys" are nice, Shenley Church End probably the nicest I guess. Lots of places have "good and bad", so it's hard to generalise by estate, most advice already shared is pretty good.
Stony Stratford is lovely, but as they're mostly older properties, be careful to rent a "good one" from a reputable company!
The Vizion apartments are probably the nicest I've seen in CMK, if you want to be dead centre.0 -
Dont listen to the negative comments about Bletchley. Lakes Estate has its problems but the vast majority of Bletchley is good. Its also currently cheap to buy and is up and coming. Its being regenerated and with the influx of new builds will only serve to create a demand for better shops and bars. They said the same about Leighton Buzzard's town centre 10 years ago and now its so much better and the reason is all the new biulds that were built attracting families and professionals to the area. Now house prices have gone up people will be looking for affordable areas commutable to London. This is why I think Bletchley will thrive in the next 5 to 10 years.0

Milton Keynes is all pretty much the same borring, artificial place. I personally would avoid the whole lot, but there are people who like it.0

If you go out a bit further you have Wavendon and Woburn Sands, both of whichare lovely. Milton Keynes has an awful lot going for it. Personally, I wwouldn't live in the centre, but there are loads of amenities, the roads are great, never really any traffic due to the grid syste. IIt'sonly lpeople that don't live here that hate it and very close to London if that'swhat you need.0
