First Direct £100 re new current account question

To clarify, it doesn't matter where the money comes from as long as it comes from an external source. You could make 3 payments for £500 in and out of the account from another bank in about 10 minutes using faster payments.
Source: It's what my GF did for about 4 months (she got the £100 joining bonus) until she realised you could just put £1 in an eSaver account.0 -
Going to do an application tomorrow, just can't get my head round this £1 in the e-saver thing? what is it for? can someone explain please0

Unless you pay in £1500 per month there is a £10 banking charge, UNLESS you hold another appropriate First Direct product. ESaver is this appropriate First Direct product. Stick £1 in and your done. Or you could take out a FD Credit Card instead, for example.0 -
just completing the application and on employment details page it asks "will your income be paid into this account?". do we have to say yes to qualify for the joining offer? also goes on to ask regarding the overdraft saying that the standard one is £500 for 12 mths. Do we stick to this or apply for more?0

ok, their site's just crashed, came up with the page giving us the reference number to phone them with
should we call or is it best trying again in a while?
another question, at the start of the application it asks if you want to apply for e-saver account and the savings account. I presume this is the e-saver that we'll need later for the £1 (to avoid the charges)? but the savings account doesn't look like the 8% regular saver. am I right re both of these?0 -

Ok, we've just opened the 1st account and the e-saver
what's next? we've now got sort codes and acc numbers for both
will they contact us to set up the DDs/SOs or do we need to do it ourselves and how do you open internet banking with them please?
thanks again0 -

Just wait, they will do everything for you. If you have concerns call them up on the phone and they will tell you where things are at. Enjoying the straight forward phone calls0 -

Alionaear, and in the end, what did you answer to that question?
I'm thinking to go with FD, but I really don't want to move my current account where my salary gets paid.
Many Thanks0
