    Yeh, I am 99.999999999999% sure the buyer was a scammer. Lucky, I hope something bad happens to them.

    You were very lucky as digitally delivered goods are not allowed on ebay...
    A digital item is a computer file or special information that you can access online or have delivered electronically. Digitally delivered goods and items which are transferred electronically are not permitted on eBay.

    The fact that you sent the code via SMS meant you were in breach of ebays T&Cs

    The only way people get round it is to (also) post the code printed onto a piece of paper
    The item provided to the buyer is supplied on a physical format for instance a CD or hardcopy. The option of delivering the item by email or digitally must never be included.

    Even then, codes like this have to be one of the most scammed areas on ebay and anyone listing them is taking a huge risk.

    maybe if you call microsoft and explain it all they might block the points or the account that way you get a little personal win if not at least you didnt lose out in the money
