Ebay (Buyer says xbox code had been redeemed)

I sold an Xbox points code to a buyer on ebay on the 22nd.
They said it had been redeemed when they tried to enter it.

They had low feedback.

I asked them to contact Microsoft and they came back saying Microsoft told them it was redeemed on the 19th with evidence of this via a screenshot (but I really this they edited this screenshot or something).

I have contacted Microsoft twice and each time they said the code was redeemed on the 22nd and they are 100% sure of this. They also confirmed the code was redeemed by someone living in the buyer's town.

The buyer has opened a case and the funds are on hold now. I know they are lying but am I safe? I have provided screenshots of the Microsoft chat to ebay.

You've done all you can with eBay tbh, I'd wait and see on that.

If they find against you, may be worth thinking about how that is fraudulent. And what you can do about that?

Voucher and voucher codes are not eligible tangible goods so are exempt buyer protection, he should not be able to open a case, unless you didn't sell it as a voucher?

Not as a voucher, as a game accessory, but code was sent via SMS.

Mmm. In theory they should not be able to open the case so I would chance a telephone call to eBay or pp whichever the case is with and explain that this was a code/voucher and as such the item is ineligible for buyer protection.

This at least made me laugh:

    Buyer's message:
"The seller said I have redeemed the code on another Xbox Live account, but this screenshot proves that I have only got 1 Xbox Live account, http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/7110/6756t.png

So the case has been settled in the buyer's favour. So angry. But it says:

A case has been opened because the buyer has an issue with an item purchased from you. We've reviewed the case and have decided to issue the buyer with a full refund of £17.00. The refund includes the purchase price plus original postage & packaging. The hold on this PayPal transaction has been removed.s.gif
This case is now closed. You aren't required to reimburse the buyer or eBay, and this case will not be counted in your seller performance evaluation.

So have ebay refunded the buyer or me? Surely ebay would never do this?

    Sounds like they are.

Must remember this scam if I want to get free Xbox points. Just get a mate to set up an account and sell you the code, claim it didn't work and he gets his money back.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

eBay have refunded the buyer - it's what is known as a "no fault claim" - i.e. eBay have decided that neither party should lose out. At least you didn't lose out, despite it looking like the buyer has scammed eBay.
