Job decision

Hello!
I was just wondering if anyone would be so kind as to give me their opinions on a decision I need to make...
I graduated from uni this time last year and due to extremely ill health I didn't do great at uni and I have struggled big time to even be able to apply for a job let alone do one. However, now things are starting to look up I have desperately been applying to anything and everything and I had two interviews this week! (yey!:T)
However, my problem is this...I have been offered both jobs. So which do I take?
Job 1 is my DREAM job, it is why I went to uni for three years (studied environmental conservation) and it is what I want to do. HOWEVER, the company are only able to offer me a 2 month contract only working every two weeks and with no guarantee of a job after it. But it is great experience and good for my CV, but in two months I will be stuck in the same position as now.
Job 2, is a boring call centre job, and it is only part time. HOWEVER it is quite good pay and it is a guaranteed permanent position, so I can guarantee my income, and then perhaps afford more training, or save up for additional education etc.
So in these hard times, can anyone make a suggestion?
Thanks,
Soozh

No job is a 100% guaranteed permanent anything to be fair
I would say do job 1 - yes ok only 2 mths work and every other week so kinda the same as part time but only a 2 mth position. If it looks better on your CV and what you want to do, go for it. This will strengthen your CV for future jobs.
If you took job 2 you may hate it and leave and wonder what could have been if you went for number 1 - only my opinion however0 -
You have a chance to follow your 'dream' job with possibilities of future work, but possibilities there may be none......... or a mundane job you didn't dream of.
I'd take a chance on number one personally. It's not as though call centre jobs are unlikely to come up again if you need one.Make £2026 in 2026

If job 2 is part time any way, and job 1 is as minimal as you have mentioned... could you not do both just for 2 months? See what the upshot of job 1 is then.Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???0

Reflect on self actualisation for a moment and then decide.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

Could you negotiate doing both? As one is 'only working every two weeks' for a couple of months and the other is part time? But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Which one will get you closer to your long term goals? Number 1 probably.3.9kWp solar PV installed 21 Sept 2011, due S and 42° roof.
17,011kWh generated as at 30 September 2016 - system has now paid for itself. :beer:0 -
Job No 1 is a specialised area and you are lucky a position has come up. You describe it as 'your dream job'.
Job No 2 is a general area - there will be others.
What if you turn down No 1 and then find out the person who took the job got made permanent? What if Co No 2 go bankrupt in 2 weeks?
Better to regret the things you've done, than the ones you didn't do.
Go for it - oh, and well done on getting offered 2 jobs!!!!!!A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Number one - no question. Get that CV going. You can always get a call centre job if you need one - or go work in a bar to top up your income, but you should always follow your dream

Thank you for the repliestheoretica wrote: »Could you negotiate doing both? As one is 'only working every two weeks' for a couple of months and the other is part time?
Unfortunately, no, as one starts at 9, and the other 9:30. Would be great if I could do one in the morning and one in the afternoon!
It is also highly unlikely that I would be offered a permanent position as the position is only for the length of time for a study for a university.0 -
Job 1, network like you life depended on it.0
