My son bought one from Costco and it had a little 3 litre bin inside. I think he paid around £45 for it.

We got 30 from Homebase for £2.99

 As it's a 50 litre bin, wouldn't it just take the standard 50 litre 50 bags for a £1 roll from Poundland? Or is it a funny shape that will only work with the stupidly priced ones? I could pay £50 for the bin, but not that price for the liners!
Ah! Good old trusty beer... I hope you never change.
  • We have had one of these for a few years too and it has been very good. The only thing is that one of the dogs has learnt how to open it! :rotfl:
what dog is it? my rhodesian ridgeback casually walks up and presses his head on it and up the lid pops he does it nearly automatically. weve had to relocate the bin behind a closed door but when you go in there and dont shut the door you just hear the click and the dog is stood behind looking all innocent lol.
had my bin for 2 years and no problems got in cheap in makro for 40 quid i believe. take a real hammering and nothings broke yet. keep my fingers crossed

My advice is to keep your receipt. You will need it in about a fortnight when the click mechanism fails. That was our experience anyway. Brabantia replaced the lid twice but eventually gave me a refund when both replacements failed in the same way within a similar space of time. A friend of ours had the same experience too. They are a blimmin nuisance when the lid won't stay shut. My husband eventually adapted ours, which they didn't ask us to return, with a stainless steel cupboard doorknob and we use the bin as a normal lift up lid type one.
I am amazed they are still selling them to be honest, they must have had loads of complaints.
I agree entirely. It is definitely a design fault.

I have been after one for ages, the cheapest I had seen was John Lewis at £49.99 but its been out of stock for ages.
Now does anyone know where to get the bags from??
Tescos were £4.99 for 30

I always use morrisons dustbin liners and they work well the cheap ones (black) and as for the clip a little prod with a sharpe knife does the trick, mine came with a spare clip but have not used it yet. i paid £75 for mine so well done.

Ah, but it does have a 10 year guarantee - mine is 7 years old - I have the lid repllaced foc twice by brabantia when my kids overtested the durability.

Of course when each new part arrives the 10 year guarantee begins again - if I play my cards right it could last for 50 years - not such an expensive purchase after all!!!

Reminds me of my broom - I've had the same one for over 20 years now.

Only had to replace the head 6 times and the handle 4 times :)

I have had mine for ages, the last one did go, only because some half wit (me) kept shoving more stuff in and was too lazy to empty it and so the lid gave up... but that was my fault not the bins......
