Bought one of these tonight in my local tesco for £54.49.

I have been after one for ages, the cheapest I had seen was John Lewis at £49.99 but its been out of stock for ages.
Now does anyone know where to get the bags from??
Tescos were £4.99 for 30

You lucky thing!!! I saw they had one in my local Tesco, didn't have enough cash on me and when I went back, it had gone and there was only the one.
What an excellent price, a real bargain!0 -
My advice is to keep your receipt. You will need it in about a fortnight when the click mechanism fails. That was our experience anyway. Brabantia replaced the lid twice but eventually gave me a refund when both replacements failed in the same way within a similar space of time. A friend of ours had the same experience too. They are a blimmin nuisance when the lid won't stay shut. My husband eventually adapted ours, which they didn't ask us to return, with a stainless steel cupboard doorknob and we use the bin as a normal lift up lid type one.
I am amazed they are still selling them to be honest, they must have had loads of complaints.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
Surprised to hear you say that, we've had one for nearly three years now and only on the first replacement lid. The first one went at the hinges after my 7 year old gave it a severe bashing. It was replaced FOC by Brabantia though.Cheers

We have had one of these for a few years too and it has been very good. The only thing is that one of the dogs has learnt how to open it! :rotfl:0

Don't mean to appear rude but you spent £55 on something to put rubbish in? :eek:0

Maybe they have made some improvements since we got ours? - it was nearly 7 years ago, I remember because we got it when we moved house. We don't even have any kids, just us two old fogeys, so it wasn't misused in any way! I must admit, Brabantia were very good about it and gave us the money back without argument - but they are supposed to be guaranteed for 10 years, so I do still advise OP to keep the receipt. I hope people don't have the same problems with theirs, because they are seriously smart binsBut to be honest, every time I have seen them on display in stores there have always been some that won't stay shut.
My friend, who has had he same problem with hers, has 5 kids, so I can see why hers might have broken, but our problem was a complete mystery.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
Ah, but it does have a 10 year guarantee - mine is 7 years old - I have the lid repllaced foc twice by brabantia when my kids overtested the durability.
Of course when each new part arrives the 10 year guarantee begins again - if I play my cards right it could last for 50 years - not such an expensive purchase after all!!!The best things in life are free.....or at least discounted!!!0 -

They seem to be that much in argos atm...we got ours about 3 weeks ago when they were down to £45. We use some bags (cant remember the brand ) from asda- 20 for £1.40 and they fit great.0
