I notice when in Norway loads of their words are the same as our doric and mean the same.

    kyle i can translate it :D :j

i know some dorric words as hubby worked in aberdeen and angus and sometimes say them to confuse me :rotfl:

some of the words are totally foreign but i recognise some as staying in fife and the dialect is a little similar.

    i'm a glaswegian:j

Reading through this is brilliant - I can hear the words, it's lovely!

I'm a born and bred North East quine but I got a skelpit lug if ah didnae spik proper so most people wouldn't know it. However, I can keep up with the best of them, even if they speak extra-fast to catch me out! I hope doric stays strong because it's a brilliant dialect, and I think it sounds great in conversation. Also great entertainment watching tourists smiling and nodding with a slight look of incomprehension when being given directions! :rotfl:
