When I started my job I was to undertake a 6 week course and the course manager was from aberdeen and slipped into doric on several occasions leaving me and my coleagues clueless.

Hahaha, some good reading here, I'm a born and bred lossie loon myself (Lossiemouth) and my girlfriend is from the broch (Fraserburgh) herself, all her days spent in the Buchan area - her surname is Buchan also!

We both live in Edinburgh and its a real shame that we have to change how we speak so other people understand us but she is a diehard and refuses to give up easily! So much so that her colleagues have taken to calling her "Furryboots" as in "Far'aboots yi fae?"

See Buckie gets a few mentions here, most of my best friends come from there.

I sense a small uprising of doric here!

If anyone wants a good read and chuckle, buy "A Dash of Doric" or "Another Dash O' Doric" - both excellent books.
