Discussed here from post 628. They've offered some a 12 month extension, others a 3 month one:

Sorry, I missed that one, I haven't looked at that thread since about this time last year when the errors in the online descriptions of teh account were being pointed out.0 -

The account has its uses .... without the 1.85% Bonus it is a dead duck, of course. Hence the extension period.Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0

That's a good point - as alanq says - and I wish some of the other banks would catch up - perhaps they will in 2012. :undecidedI agree, that's the big advantage to me. If the people who don't think it's a good account could suggest an alternative that also offers up to £20K FP and a similar or better rate please do so.
I suppose FPs are most useful to those making frequent transfers - something I do from one of my current accounts; but sacrificing 0.30% in a savings account with low activity for the advantage of FPs might not be an overall advantage for me, although I would certainly welcome high value FPs for all accounts.".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0 -
I confirmed by phone that the gross and AER rates aren't the rate that applies during the extension. It's the combination of the bonus rate for three months then the annual rate for the next nine months because they have to give a 12 month rate.
The reasonable faster payments limit is what makes this account particularly useful in some situations. Though I could use a higher one.0 -
Thanks Tippytoes - i've just closed mine so a timely warning!
