  • Just wanted to say thank you to everyone one involved, I sent my complaint via email in mid December, in under a month I had several written responses and have just posted back my acceptence of their offer of over £6k!
  • Hi there,

Sure I can. The original amount was £10k, in around 2002. I dipped in and out of it a Lot, so the ~£6k hasn't cleared the balance, but it has made a massive dent!

I haven't got all the paperwork with me, but I received a letter after approx 3 weeks telling me they were sorry that it was going to take a little longer and I should be prepared to wait another 4 weeks or so, only days later I received the offer letter. I'd guess you've got another week or two before you'll have their final say, but that's only based on my experience.

    Good luck :)

    SM
  • Hi,

Could somebody please send me a copy of their letter they used to send to cahoot/santander.

THanks so much, I really appreciate it x

If the acknowledging e-mail says 21 working days then 21 working days is what I'll hold them to. If they then try and change the rules and say 8 weeks (by whose authority, by the way!!?) I'll make another complaint:rotfl:

After 21 days they will send you a letter saying we are looking into it still and have a further 4 weeks to come to a decision but we hope it will be sooner ( 8 weeks is set out by the FOS i think)

Thanks for this. Looks more or less my sort of figures. I dare not even think about a cheque for £6000. It would change my life, literally.

Expectations grounded, even if hope is high:rotfl:
  • Thanks very much for your help so far and for the template letter.

Just sent my complaint email away so fingers crossed!!!! :o

    Hi,

My Cahoot account has been passed to a DCA as I have haven't been able to keep up with the repayments for the last year although I have had the loan since 2006. My initial rate was 14.2% but it has been 20% for a while now! My credit limit was 9k. My statements from Santander are now saying £0 for loan amount outstanding.

If they agree to refund will they they send this straight to the DCA?

    Thanks

Is the DCA Wescot? Either way if offer is made, it will go to the DCA and if it clears the loan and there is a credit balance, it will be sent to you by cheque.

Also include charges as part of the complaint as mine were refunded and my total payment was over £6k. All of this went to the DCA leaving a small balance that I have now cleared.

Hi, I had a Cahoot Loan for £1400 from jan 2004 until Sept 2006 when I paid it off. I owed £1362 when I paid it off so it had not come down much after all those payments.

Is there any point in claiming on any loans which ended this early, and for this small amount?

Claiming will cost you nothing, and if you get even a few quid out of it it will be a pretty profitable few minutes!

If you get nothing then you're no worse off now than you were.
