Got a letter from Santandar telling me that they are investigating my complaint and I can go to the Financial Ombusdman Service, they really know what they are doing as I have had this letter Months ago.

I have been furnished with my 'We have recently received a number of complaints relating to this issue' FOS letter but no alternate loan offer from Santander.

Would be ironic to receive the latter as the reason I ended up pursuing this complaint was on the back of a fixed rate loan migration rejection from them in January.

    Good luck to all.

Hi guys newbie here, I did have a flexi loan back in 2004 borrowed more money and went up to £8k, still paying it back, it is the bane of my life. However having stumbled across this thread, I was filled with hope that all may not be lost, so I e-mailed the CEO but unfortunately today received the said knock back letter, it really deflated me, is it still worth going with the FOS, if so can someone point me in the right direction of what I need to do. I will be extremely grateful if anyone can help, and in return if I can help anyone else I will duly do so.
  • Lambo you just need to lodge the complaint with the FOS now, I would'nt get too dispondent yet - there is a lot of people in the same boat. The FOS seem to be grouping all the complaints together so likely we will either win or loose together.
Just phone the FOS 0800 023 4567 and they will log the call for you and sent you out the relevant forms. Your complaint to the FOS will just include what you said to Santy and any correspondance they sent you. Good luck!

Cheers Kenny, will do as you say, am more than happy to pass on any updates and advice (if it helps), to others, I guess we all in this together. Good luck everyone.
  • Hi

I have complained to Santander regarding my flexi loan (old one, now closed) and they have stated that I was informed of all the interest rises and they have actually sent me a list of all the automated e-mails sent telling me of each raise. Not the actual e-mail sent but the details (date and time) of it.

They have said their decision is final and have said to contact the FOS, but, I have already contact the FOS and they said they are only interested if it is a PPI claim?

I had 6 raises of interest from around 5% to 18.9% and remember questioning this at the time and getting nowhere.

Has anyone any advice about the FOS saying no and can I do anything more?

Santander/Cahoot say they were fair and just.

    Thanks
  • Afternoon all....

Just thought I'd post a quick update on how things are looking for me.

I first made my complaint back in January and got the standard knockback letters the same as everybody else. In fact, I think I got about 3! I took it straight to the FOS using their online complaint form and I recieved a response by post on the 19th May 2012. The letter was basically just thanking me for my complaint and explaining what will happen next.

Last Friday I finally recieved a phone call from a chap at the FOS saying that he'd been assigned to my case and is awaiting some further information from Santander (Good luck with that mate!) Once he has this he is going to start working towards a conclusion for me.

So......more waiting around I guess! Fingers crossed!

I really hope this works out well for everybody else who has taken the time to complain! Best of luck to all of you! :T
  • Forwarded my claim onto FOS back in May and received the usual letter saying it will take upto 8 weeks to receive a reply from them and last week I received a further letter from them saying within the next 12 weeks I will be ascribed an adjudicator.

Just out of interest I received a call (my first) from Santander today - apologising! No... don't get excited (like I did!) as it was just to say that the SAR, which I requested back in March (cheque cashed in April) is now winging its way to me (yee haw!) and, as they have taken so long to process this, they are (as a gesture of "goodwill") refunding the £10 fee for the SAR! Took me all my time not to laugh at the bearer of this "wonderful" news!

Tick tock tick tock... the wait continues :)

I don't think we will get a response this side of xmas to be honest. It's highly likely that they will favour Santandar I think.

    Just stumbled across this thread.

I had a Cahoot Flexi loan which I paid off in 2009 because the interest rate had steadily risen to over 20%.

At the time I paid it off all my email correspondance was via Abbey.
Does this mean that I am unable to pursue any claim or was Abbey effectively part of Santander by middle of 2009?

If not part of Santander is it still worth me contacting them or is this a lost cause?

    Thanks
