I had a 12k loan from mid 2002. I got back 5k+ after going via the FOS.
My OH has got 3K back on a 5K loan from around the same time, also via the FOS.

Can I ask Happy Bunny if FOS actually ordered Santander to pay up, or was it done by mediation? Sorry if this is a silly question. I'm not really up to speed on this stuff yet.0 -

I referred to FOS after santy rejected my complaint and FOS said that this was the resoltion that santander offered after their involvement.
Does this help?:beer:0 -

Dear ####
I have checked our records and our resolution letter was issued on 14th April. If you have not received this by Friday please let us know and we will arrange for a duplicate to be sent to you.

Not even received by Saturday.
Joke organisation. Actually they're a disorganisation.0 -
Very interesting reading, I have had a flex loan since 2004 and like everyone else was totally bemused at the massive interest hikes.
Does anyone have a generic complaint letter I could send to Santander along with the email of who to send it to, I would be very grateful.
About time someone started paying back instead of take take take.0 -
I am very new to this forum and was astonished when I came across this discussion as I too have had a flexi loan since 2001, I phoned Santander up a couple of years ago to complain at the massive hike in interest but was told I would need to borrow more money if I wanted to move to a better deal!!! anyway I would appreciate if someone kind on here could pm the template letter of complaint.0

Hi All
After reading 100's of replies on this thread, it appears that those who were first in were receiving 'gesture of goodwill' payments following their complaint. However it now seems that now the floodgates have opened, Santander appear to be changing tact and not making any payments and issuing standard rejection letters. With this in mind, is it still worth complaining - as I also dont see people posting positive results after going to the FOS.
I took out a flexi loan at £10k back in 2002 and the rates have hiked up substantially like everyone else - I still have this loan and have paid most of it down but am planning on clearing it in about 3 weeks time (around £3k to pay). My main question is should I just clear this load and be done with it or is it worth still complaining or not - maybe I could talk to them nicely when I call to pay it off and see if they will reduce it
Any thoughts would be appreciated - its not that I can afford not to get any payments from them but more cant afford the time to chase if there is not going to be any positive outcome.0 -
While Santander are rejecting most (all?) of the complaints now, what really matters is what happens once the FOS are involved, the majority of which are not known yet and won't be for many months.
Paying off the loan won't change any complaint or the rate hikes either - but if you can afford to clear it you will save a considerable amount in interest.
Whether you complain or not is up to you - but the fact is others in the same situation have complained and in many instances received substantial refunds.
For the previous posters - the complaint template/email/letter has been posted several times already, just look back through previous pages.0 -
Thanks tlh858
Am just putting together an email to send to them now so will get the ball rolling, you make a good point about clearing it so will continue down that route, and will query my complaint when calling for a final settlement figure as it will have been 3 weeks since me sending it - maybe they will be able to make a goodwill gesture there and then and save a lot of timeheres hoping.

Hi All
Is anyone able to pass a sample of the complaint letter sent to the FOS, so I can understand what level of detail they need or what angle should be used?
Thanks in advance0
