Did you consult your neighbours before selling?

Good morning MSE'ers.

Just a quick one (or two).
When you were receiving bids on your house, did you tell your neighbours you were going to be selling to xyz before accepting?

(Where xyz = absolutely anything, whites, blacks, asians, someone who will rent it to anyone, western europeans, eastern europeans, students, small families, large families, old families, young families etc etc).

I'm of the opinion that a sale is a sale, but should there have been any element of consultation with current neighbours, especially when buyers are thin on the ground?

Thanks as ever.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Why would you tell your neighbours ...you own the house you sell it regardless of who buys it ... its nothing to do with them

If you did tell them and they didn't agree with the future purchaser would you cancel the sale .........!

Is this thread going along the lines of:

"An Asian family moved into our street and nobody warned us."

It must come into it, but I think OP is probably taking stick for selling to someone without consulting

We didnt, but our previous neighbours were very unhappy with the lady we sold to, and complained to us that they didnt like her and we shouldnt have sold our house to her.

We moved partly because they were very interferring people who liked to have an opinion on everthing we did.

I would tell them that is why you moved and was happy to sell to who ever you can to get away from them.

Absolutely. They are completely deluded if they think they have any right to veto your decision to sell your house at the best possible price to whoever offered.

    Bonkers.

Correct. And it's nothing to do with race (as far as I know!), it's to do with them having kids.

I'm not sure in the slightest what the neighbours expect from me as a seller. I don't feel like we need to consult with them at all, but was interested to hear other opinions.

    Thanks as ever.
