    Hi Lolly

I agree with Aesop. We didn't even have a computer until eldest went to Grammar School! We knew we could hold out until it was really needed. We did this deliberately and we feel as though it benefited rather than deprived them. I have never heard of a school having a website chat facility. Our school is continually writing home asking for parents to refuse access to Facebook etc. So its not a good habit for them to start chatting online so young.

    Hope this helps :)

Sorry to hear your sleep is still not good. Have you thought of cutting out sugar and caffeine products. I have heard that this can help.

Morning all, I found 2p roadkill yesterday.

At cashpoint with DS, look down, he has £2 in his hands.... ooh excited, where did you find that? He said here, on the floor... goto the shop, took out my purse, it was my £2!!! I had opened the coin compartment and not closed it, and my money had fallen out when I was putting the note away!

I think it is a tad too young Lolly, mines 7 too and I wont let him have any technology until he's 10. He was a bit sad but accepted it and carried on playing outside. He really wants a DS but he's doing so well at school I want to hold off from buying anything he really really wants so I can use it as a bribe! :D In all seriousness though, why doesnt he call his friend whilst its free in the evening? Or better still, let him invite his friends round for dinner more often, cheaper than a notebook!

Im really chuffed with the KG offer, it'll be here tomorrow morning (yay!) and I might even accidently purchase another magazine.... :D

Is it the black oval clutch you've got your eye on? What a beaut!

DS has toy laptops, educational ones that he can play games on and teach him counting, alphabet games, etc.

He is 4 :D yesterday and plays on my laptop sometimes but I restrict his usage. He is allowed 1 hour of cbeebies if he has been good. He plays the games on this site. But then I can supervise him and he isn't allowed to go to any other site.

Me personally think 7 is to young for a netbook. He should keep sharing Mummy's laptop for a few more years. He will need a comp when he is at high school to help with homework. But am sure he can wait 5 more years.

Yes, good points. He doesn't really need to chat to his friends online as all of our neighbours have kids the same age so he has lots of friends here, he just seems to be spending a lot more time on the laptop these days (sometimes working... but mostly drawing and playing!). To be fair, he has been very good and has taken over my Woohoo and McCains accounts :T lol! I think I'll just have to juggle my time a bit better so he can have set times to go on the laptop when I'm not using it.

Ebayqueen - Yes, I was surprised that they could do so much through the website - they can even create blogs!!!

Yeah I have to say for safety's sake I think I would steer clear of unvetted access to the internet or chat facilities for young children...DD (9) I know would love her own pc/laptop - but I think for now we'll be sticking to sharing mine.

    Morning Ebayqueen :)

I don't really take that much caffeine...probably 1 cup per day if I've slept badly during the night...mornings are a struggle without the mandatory morning coffee :).... no coke/pepsi...couple of cups of tea in the evening (2-3 max)...don't have that much sugar either... no real snacking inbetween meals...sucks tbh...:(I'm teetotal and don't smoke... but I do have acid reflux...which I think could be kicking me out of sleep (not sure)....

Anyways I've never had a good sleep pattern...last time I remember sleeping well was about 2 years ago on holiday :) probably best weeks sleep I've had in my life!!

Good luck with your listings :) I don't know where you get your ebay stamina from - send me some!! xx

7 seems a bit young to have an "online presence"....I know I'm the paranoid sort - but I'd be worried about DD publishing blogs online...stranger danger and all that...might be worth having a good look around the site yourself hun - make sure it is all above board xx

I think it is good they are being taught how to create blogs but yes I would worry about them publishing for it to be out in the virtual world!

do you take anything for the acid reflux? have you seen your doc? can they help with it.

I think Kids need to learn about internet safety, and letting them use your laptop means you can keep an eye on what they are doing.

I know Raven (printable coupon thread) says he has his locked down with security measures so the kids don't go places they shouldn't, etc.

Did you see this weeks episode of The Food Hospital I think on channel 4? They changed a lady's diet who had acid reflux and it became a lot better, almost gone. I suffer with it too, no idea why, I even get it when I drink water! Heard its linked to obesity and I am a bit porky...:o

    Morning Aesop :)

I take Omeprazole (think that's how you spell it) only been on it a couple of weeks - not sure it works tbh.. from the other symptoms I've got

pins and needles in right side under rib cage sometimes
    stomach ache after ibuprofen
    hunger when not hungry
    nausea after drinking cold water

I think I might have an ulcer...

from what I can tell - doctors give you tablets - if it goes away great - if it doesn't THEN they investigate :) nothing like being a guinea pig eh? :D x
