  • Hello,

Not sd, but sss poking her nose in here, hope that is OK. But I am a mum of three boys and a granny of two and our best things are walking in streams with wellies on, throwing dry leaves at each other in autumn, taking chairs and a picnic to parks and just spending the day, rolling down hills and spending a day in the paddling pool. All free. Even better if you buy a water pistol. Have fun!
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D
  • And if you have a big lawn, make tents with chairs and blankets, and create obstacle courses with anything you can find. Lovely times.

Thanks SSS. I'm not going to show Mrs Saver your water pistol suggestion though as she's been talking about getting some for a while now!:rotfl:

Morning Timmy Saver and SSS :j.

We are very fortunate to live next door to a Country Park so we love going for walks in the park and woods. As long as the boys have a stick they are happy - looking for insects, slow worms etc. They are really outdoor(sy) boys, DH and myself were the same as children.

Like SSS mentioned, they like making tents and on a rainy day they like nothing better than make a tent indoors using the clothes horse and having a picnic inside :D.

Therefore our top 5 things to do are:
    Going for walks
    Exploring local area
    Playing in parks
    Making tents
    Playing pooh-sticks

All things which are free, keeps us busy and fit and helps build wonderful memories :).

Thanks sweetdaisy, that's a col list. I'm amazed by how much being outside calms babysaver down. If he's really grumbly in the daytime, I just walk around the garden with him and I can see his whole body relax as soon as he gets outside :) Hoping it's a good sign!

    Do you ever do Geocaching?

When the children were babies (and in pushchairs), I used to walk for miles with them. It was a guaranteed way for them to get to sleep on times.

I have to be honest I have never heard of Geocaching, so had to look it up! I've not done this but it does sounds interesting.

National trust has great info on 50 things to do before your 11 and 3 quarters and there are some good ideas on there for outdoor type things!

We are NT members and we've had some awesome times at their places as well as in the country / beach etc.. With six weeks holiday coming up, I'm on a memory making mission and want to do loads with them (at minimal expenditure)

Well done on your mortgage progress, first time I've been in here - will subscribe!

Interest of £99.09 has been applied to the mortgage and balance is now: £49,950. :j I am so happy to be out of the £50Ks and into the £40Ks :j.

The mortgage term has been reduced by a further month to September 2021 (4.4 years earlier than original end date). I also received a letter from Natwest stating that our mortgage facility has been reduced, therefore reducing the minimum monthly payments by £17.

I have now stopped using my Capital One Cashback credit card as they are no longer offering Cashback, so using my Natwest Rewards credit card instead. After one month of use I have accumulated £15 in cashback.

Had some car trouble with DH’s car. Something keeps on running the battery down, but we can’t find the fault. Having looked on the Car Forums it seems that it is a common fault with his make of car, but the manufacturer won’t recognise it as a problem! Had to call the breakdown company as it wouldn’t start and needed a new battery costing £129, but at least the car is starting. Going to save up some more money and thinking about getting rid of the car for something more reliable.

Celebrated DS1’s 7th Birthday this month _party_ - can’t believe how quickly he is growing up - it only seems like yesterday that he was a little baby. It must be the party season as we have a party to attend every weekend for the next 5 weeks or so!
