Monthly Interest of £97.40 has been applied to the mortgage, bringing the balance to £50,901. Can't wait to get out of the £50Ks and into the £40Ks!

Enjoyed a family day out at a Theme Park with the children yesterday. Not very MSE but did order tickets online so saved a whooping £8.00. A good day all round and children really enjoyed, especially when we got soaked on the water flumes.

Unfortunately, the Cashback on my Capital One credit card comes to an end on the 31st, so I have applied for a Natwest Cashback Plus rewards card. I won't get as much cashback as Capital One, but some is better than none :D.

SD, do you have a mortgage that you can view online? I don't get that with W0olwich, really miss having access to up-to-date data.

I'm with you there! The only thing better than the £40Ks will be the £30Ks!!! :D You must have a brilliant interest rate as it's much less than ours.

Glad you had a good day out - sometimes you just have to say stuff the expense and have an ace day with the family :)

Hi edinburgher. Hope all is well with Juliet and you and Mrs E are managing to have some sleep :).

Yes, I am able to view my mortgage online. I bank with Natwest and also have my Offset Mortgage with them.

When I log into online banking I can also see the Mortgage account, therefore I am able to see how much interest is applied. I also make my direct OP's through online banking and the balance updates straight away - this definitely keeps me motivated when I see the outstanding mortgage balance everyday.

Hi Timmy, hope all is well with Noah and Mrs TimmySaver too :).

Our Mortgage interest rate is 4%. I think that this is higher than a lot of other mortgages, but the rate on Offset mortgages are usually higher.

Even though I am on a journey to be MF, I will not sacrifice when it comes to spending time with the family, therefore I don't have any qualms about spending on a family day out. I am not very materialistic therefore I and have always preferred to spend money on the children/family rather than on myself.

Having said that I am not a skinflint by any means, but over the years I have learnt how to make my money go further.

Things are going really well thanks. Although he's being very grumbly tonight!
I wish our monthly interest was that low, our rate is 3.44% until 2019. The monthly value never seems to go down (although I haven't looked at it properly over time, if I'm being honest) and is higher than yours :(

I hope I didn't say anything out of turn - I definitely wasn't suggesting that you were a skinflint :) I was just thinking of myself as I often get bogged down thinking about the prices of everything, opportunity costs, etc. And often have to remind myself that as long as I'm having a good time with my family then that's the whole point.

I hope that you and your family are all well.

Not at all - you didn't imply anything :). I agree with your comment. It can be all too easy to get carried away with money saving and sometimes I have a little splurge, otherwise this MF lark can become monotonous.

It's a marathon not a sprint isn't it. We all definitely need some treats along the way. Our MFW ways just mean we maximise the fun we get out of our spends. Your MF date doesn't seem that far away SD. I am tempted to have a play with my spreadsheet and see what magic I can come up with to bring the end date forwards.

Hi Cath - I couldn't agree more! My happiest memories as a child were doing things which were free, so I'm trying to build the same memories for our children.

I would love to be mortgage free by July 2019 (in time for my 40th Birthday), however it is unlikely that I will be MF by that time. Just trying to get as close to it as I can.

Hi, hope you're having a good month. Was wondering what would be at the top 5 or 10 of your list of free things for kids to do :)
