Thanks Southerndave
At least DS2 can now start to receive treatment to manage his condition, which is a huge relief to us. My main worry was that it was going to spread up his legs which will affect his mobility, at least hopefully it can be contained in his feet and lower legs. As he has had the condition from birth and is still young (19 months old), the treatments (once they start) are going to form part of his daily routine for life, so he's at an age where he is not going to know any different.
DH is enjoying his job and is paying emergency tax at the moment, so he needs to send the agency his P45. He is on a temp contract, so we have no idea how long he is going to be there, so putting all extra income into Savings/Mortgage Overpayment 'pot'. Today I paid £50 into Savings and £50 into the Mortgage Overpayment 'pot'.
I am building up the Emergency Fund as I would like to be able to have £10,000 saved in case we lose our jobs, need money for any emergencies etc. I will then 'forget' about this money and continue to put money into the various little savings pots that I have. Well, that my plan anyway . . . but you never know what life is going to throw at you!
Received my Credit Card statement today and earned £7.86 cashback this month. This won't be paid until my January 2014 statement, so have a way to go to beat my cashback for last year: £105.0 -
Back to work tomorrow after having 3 days off for the Half Term. I tend to take/use my A/L in odd days off rather than 'weeks', so it feels that I have been away from work for a long time.
Used some shopping vouchers today, which I received for Christmas and bought myself a new pair of jeans and a top. I hate clothes shopping at the best of times, so am surprised that I picked something!
Redeemed £11 for completing surveys, which has been paid to the mortgage.
Monthly mortgage interest is due to be added to the mortgage account tomorrow and according to my spreadsheet the mortgage balance will reach the £69,999 mark by January 2014. I am a month off my target of December 2013 and likely that I will reach it - so may have to set myself a new target soon.
Mortgage Balance: £74,720
Mortgage Overpayment 'pot': £500 -
Dydd Gwyl Dewi hapus i bawb (Happy St. David's Day everyone) _party_Monthly interest was added to the mortgage a couple of days ago: £186 - nice to see it reducing as we are offsetting more against the mortgage. Mortgage balance now stands at £74,906. I have moved some money around in the last couple of days - increased savings and added to the mortgage overpayment 'pot' which now stands at £100.
So far this week, I have only spent £11. DS1 has a school trip coming up with a 'voluntary' payment of £10, so this was paid and he had to take £1.00 today for St. David's Day concert and activities.0 -

Thanks Southerndave. I was doing well with the weekly spend until today when I had to buy ear drops for DS1 and a replacement forehead thermometer strip costing £1.99 after the old one seems to have been chewed, but children of course are denying this! So weekly spend has been a grand total of: £15.84.

Weekly food shop done today and underspent by £10. Popped into town and bought Mother's Day presents for my Mum and DH's Mum and bought a couple of birthday presents for DS1's school friends as we have some parties to attend.
I have moved some money around and I am £700 away from reaching my Emergency Fund target of £10,000.
I received £11 from doing surveys, which I added to the 'Mortgage OP pot' which now stands at £180. I also checked my TopCashback account and forgot that DH used the site to renew his car insurance and was please to see that I will be paid £29 cashback for this.
I am continuing to 'save' up my Childcare Vouchers and now have £897 in the account. Aside from the mortgage, childcare costs are the biggest barrier I have to being able to look for a job which is closer to home - as realistically it will be likely that I'll need to take a pay cut of around £3,000. So, as well as continuing to save up the childcare vouchers (by paying for childcare costs from my pay which is already accounted for as part of my monthly budget), I have set up a Childcare savings 'pot'. By saving money into this pot, this will enable me to change job in the future and as it is likely that I will have to take a pay cut, I will at least have my childcare costs accounted for. These costs will not reduce until September 2014 when DS2 starts full-time school.0 -
