Because Ebay was never intended to be used by those who want to run businesses. It was for ordinary people to sell and buy things.
.
Whereas of course now it might be argued that ebay sees itself as a more profesisonal platform so has moved towards attracting business sellers with BIN auctions and shops.
It never pays to live in the past- if we can't adapt to how things change we can never move on.
General comment though- as per my thread a few evenings ago- business sellers really ought to look at listing on ebay.com sometimes as they do free listings for all on their users (including businesses) and currently have one every week.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It takes 3 free listing weekends to list everything since ebay made the changes. One free weekend per month with unlimited listings was better for me.
The difference is that most private listers have a limited amount of odd things lying around to sell- so really no need to have unlimited free listings.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. On US ebay I recently noticed them offering I think 50 listing per month for free(at any time and any price), I wonder if they would do that that in the UK.
It saddens me to see ebay turning more and more into a giant shop, it's not what it stands for imho.0 -

I don't have any problems at all with ebay evolving into a more commercial site- they are a business and without them I wouldn't be able to afford such lovely holidays and a new car.
There are smaller auctions around if you think that ebay are too commercial now.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Not sure that's strictly the case, even Omidyar didn't have a clue what Ebay was going to be when it started and as far as I'm aware business users were onboard pretty early on. If any business was only able to do business as when they first started Marks & Spencer would still be selling stuff for a penny.Because Ebay was never intended to be used by those who want to run businesses.
