I think you mean can you install a printer on two seperate PC's at once and swap the USB cable back and forth then yes this is possible, providing the install CD is compatible with both PC's OS'.
If both pc's are connected to the same network, then you could use printer sharing to make one PC the 'host', have the printer plugged into that and still be able to print from the other machine (provided the 'host' machine is switched on).P.I.C.N.I.C problem: Problem In Chair, Not In Computer0 -
Could install it on 100 pc's. As long as the software doesn't have a serial number or key.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0

Depends on the particular printer - it is unlikely to find a serial key on printer driver software.
double check your install CD is compatible with XP as printers are fussy in this respect - if not, get your drivers from the manufacturers website.P.I.C.N.I.C problem: Problem In Chair, Not In Computer0 -
No that will the serial number of the printer for the warrantyMansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0

Hi, no ,there,s no key on software, I thought you meant the printer itself. My concern was, is, any chips in the printer altered in the printer during instal, or is it plug and play? If it works on daughters, then my pc is at fault.:beer:Depends on the particular printer - it is unlikely to find a serial key on printer driver software.

Nothing at all ties your printer to your PC, they are completely independant.
You can install the drivers on as many PC's as you like, you can plug the printer into as many PC's as you like.0 -
just be aware that you may need a different set of drivers for XP and Vista. Should be easily downloaded from the manufacturer's website

Hi GunJack,Thanks for reply. I used to have xp pro before I got this Laptop 2.5 years ago.The printer has used on both.OS<S. The trouble I,ve had trying to re-instal was driver related, hence my Visit to Lexmark,s chatline, who,put thier drivers on, not my cd.the first time.On both occasions they haven,t been able to sort it.That,s why I suspect the printer, but Lex, after remote control, the second visit said she,d fixed it,Avast trouble.Alas,no; If I download drivers for xp on my daughters from Lex, and it works ok, then I suspect my pc could be at fault, even though spooler is on.It,s as if, when I send doc to print, it,s pending, which is on the spool?? but won,t complete, although printer is continuosly trying ,until I switch pc off, and reboot, then the doc prints during reboot. Most wierd.just be aware that you may need a different set of drivers for XP and Vista. Should be easily downloaded from the manufacturer's website
