Is this a judging forum or what?

Yes, sadly it can be sometimes. See how quickly you "judged" me as a "golden oldie" (Is that meant to be some kind of bad thing? Is that something from Judge Judy or something? Do I get a badge? I've always wanted a badge...) and implied that I was part of "shooting the new members" and how quickly you judged chalkie99 as having got out the wrong side of the bed.

If this is a "judging forum" then you've certainly wasted no time making yourself at home.
Are we on Judge Judy? :rotfl:
You tell me. I don't watch that trash.
I simply asked a question, why has my intentions become the hot topic? And why so negatively? Some people like talking on the phone and some don't. So what.

I was looking for payday lenders that don't bother me with phonecalls. So what.

And FYI I have other accounts with different banks and each have varying overdrafts, circumstances change along the way and even though I felt p'ed off, I can understand Halifax decision not to increase my overdraft any further. They said they would review it in 6 months. They haven't written me off as a scam artist just yet, sorry to disappoint.

I think I'll stick to reading this forum occasionally, leave the golden oldies to themselves. Why not stunt the growth of this forum by shooting the new members, great! Seems you cant ask questions without being judged anyway. I didn't ask anyone if they felt I was on 'slippery slope'.

    @ RobertoMoir

Enfieldian comment came off rude even if they didn't mean it to.
If you feel I "judged" you then you were mistaken. I'm simply suggesting that you are getting a lot of the early warning signs of serious debt issues that we see people posting with on the debt-free wannabe section of the board. I appreciate you don't want to hear that - your defensiveness and low grade sarcasm makes that perfectly clear - and I'd love to be mistaken, but that doesn't make anything I said wrong.

Oh something else that you won't want to hear but which is still true: Credit scores are pretty meaningless. Don't think an "ok" score (or even a perfect score) means there aren't things in your credit file that a lender will dislike.

oh dear....another one for the where did i go wrong thread.
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Why do you need to increase your overdraft?
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Oh and btw Wonga and QuickQuid are one of the hardest to loan from - you have to have a pretty decent credit score for them to even consider you.

I have checked my credit score online recently and it is 'OK' around the middle.

Hi Niaomi, just a bit of background for you on how these work - the 'scores' from Equifax and the like are pretty meaningless (and often higher than the banks will see things!). The very presence of PDL's on your credit record does mean your access to mainstream credit is pretty much hosed for a few years now, especially with the overdraft extension refusal.

People here, however they come across, are generally trying to help - PDL's are such an expensive way of borrowing that they become a spiral very quickly, and so people are actually trying to protect you. They seem to be clumsy with their phrasing and approach frequently, but strangely are your allies in this!

Is there ANY WAY AT ALL you can cut your spending and sell pretty much anything you have in order to get back on track, clear the overdraft, etc.? It won't be pretty, but really should be top of your options as multiple PDL's will leave you short the next month, then you have to roll-over a higher loan or take out more... If Wonga turn down a borrower, it is usually a pretty good sign that they don't rate you for credit, and lending is their business. Usually a good indicator to take a long hard look at your finances. Not trying to preach, just pointing out the warning signs along the road!

I suspect the reason they call is to verify that you gave a correct phone number they can contact you on - likely they get nervous as a lot of PDL customers vanish, unable to repay, and they want to make sure they can get hold of you before having to add extra charges to your account. In fact it is a surprise that QQ didn't do this, although it sounds as if it is for a smaller amount.

Good luck, hope you get it sorted one way or another. The DFW board may be a useful resource, as someone mentioned above.

Payday loans have a place in society...
So do crack dealers, but I'd advise steering clear of both of them.

Was just trying to be realistic, I suppose crack can be good if you only use it once? (no? ;-))! what happened to my post anyway? first time i've been on this site yesterday so not sure how it works but whilst i can see your reference to my post, i can't actually see my post? has it been removed? Doesn't concern me too much i just want to make sure i am not doing something wrong!

With so called "wageday advances" splashing all over your credit history it's time to say bye bye to all but the scummiest of loans for the next few years.
