Registry Cleaner Pop Ups On Computer

I have the following icons on my main screen;
avast
ad aware se personal
mcafee security
nero start smart
clean registry
mail washer
then on my add/remove programs the only ones that match these are;registey cleaner version 4.0
registry cleaner xp
avast
mail washer
I am currently running an updates windows on the computer that is attatched to my tesco broadband.
so can i still try to follow the recommended steps (above) while this is running?0 -

can I run the above programme (steps 1-4 )while the windows update is gong on ?0 -
no, you need to do it in safe mode after you reboot the PC and so you will not be connected to the internetEx forum ambassador

Windows update is now completed and rebooted
I have removed the free registry cleaner from the desktop ,it has gone to the recycle bin (it is not on the add/remove programmes)
Do I run the above programme offline0 -
I would do it to be sure you are clean, these programs often open gateways to install keyloggers and other programsEx forum ambassador
