just a quick note to say one of my daughters buggys use to set the alarms off in certain shops I think the buggy was an urban detour, it was only after checking everything through the barriers that the connection was made, library books do it sometimes too...

The OP was not present at the scene? Their words are hearsay.

So what? They are posting on an internet board, not giving evidence in a court of law.

I bonged coming out of Tesco's once and it was a tire inner tube I'd bought earlier from the bike shop, for my son's bike, I willingly handed over my bags for that as I wanted to prove myself innocent to all the watching shoppers. I often think if it happens again that I'd like to protest and demand rights and be outraged by being searched, but I know I will willingly turn out my shopping to prove I'm a good person.

I also bonged going in to ASDA, the security man didn't say anything, so I asked him to check since I didn't want to bong going out, and it was a cardboard shoe tag kind of thing my little boy had picked up in the street on a previous occasion lurking in the bottom of my reusable shopping bag, the guard just took my "empty" bag and waved it in front of the magnet and told me "what ever it was, it's dead now" lol

With respect, I don't think the 4-5 point procedure has any basis in law.

Police and Criminal Evidence Act is probably rather more relevant than some spurious "procedure".
your correct it does not have any basis in law, I was referring to the lady that stopped her.
