Dial-a-phone too good to be true??
Hi,
I recently got a 3 phone from dial-a-phone on a pretty good deal. No problems so far.
The other day they rang me and said because I had a good credit rating they would offer me another 3 contract and phone (Motorola) with loads of minutes free for a whole year!! (You pay £30 a month and then after every 3 months can claim £90 cash back). The contract is only for year and I really cant see any problems with it but Im really confused as to why they are doing it and where they make the money. I asked and he said they invest the money before giving me the cashback which I am extremely sceptical about.
Has anyone else been offered this?
Are they reputable and actually give you the cashback when you claim it?
Thanks

3 allow each customer 2 connections.
The commission that dialaphone receive will be the same for each 3 phone they supply.
So if they can get you to have 2, they will make twice the profit!
The cashback they give you is just them sharing their commission - they get in excess of the £360 they are going to give you.
They will probably be on some sort of a bonus scheme with 3 (if they reach a certain level of connections, then 3 will pay them an extra bonus on top of their regular commission), and it will be easier for them to reach that level by approaching existing customers to take out extra contracts rather than find new customers.
They have been around a long time, but the risk is yours that they might go bust during the 12 months of the contract and you don't get all your money back.0 -
also the credit usually goes into the phone account, which means that your last credit of £90 will be useless to you unless you continue the contract beyond 12 months0

Not in this instance.
They give real cash back on 3 contracts.0 -
Thanks for the info, I wondered if it was to hit a sales target or something aswell.
Seems mad that 3 are effectively giving me a free phone with loads of minutes and also giving dial-a-phone a healthy commission.
I guess they do the numbers and make it back on the number of people who are too lazy to change after 12 months.
(the cashback definitely gets paid to your bank not your phone account)0 -
I think there's something dodgy about Dialaphone.
Last month they had an offer on Vodafone for 12 months Free line rental. I applied and 2 hours later got a call from them saying that my credit check had failed and they can only offer me 3.
I found that very strange as I have an excellent credit Score - never ever had any problems with late payments or anything. I also earn a fair bit and have 7 Credit Cards with substantial credit limit on each (£19750 on one of them).
I then took the credit expert free trial and also paid the 4.99 for a credit score. The score showed i was in the top rank ie no one should have a problem to lend me credit etc. I then checked the 'credit search' section and couldn't see a search from Vodafone!!
2 days later I asked my brother (who earns more than me) to apply and guess what - he got the same response and the 3 network offered.
I think they never had the intention to offer the Vodafone offer but instead are pushing (illegally) the 3 network.0 -
whilst my complaint is not regarding the deals Dial a Moan offer, I can honestley say they are THE worst company I have ever dealt with regarding customer service.
I put NTL above these people for customer service, yes i know this is a bold statment.
Me and Dial a Moan have a history, it's not pleasant. I was Michael Douglas and they were like Glenn Close. Now whats for lunch, Rabbitt?0
