I don't really see what's funny about wanting to find something that's a little nicer than a carrier bag...
You really can't see what's funny/inappropriate with children's lunch bags for your OH, a grown man, to take to work?
Something like this would be much more appropriate

or this at a push if you want something fun

Those two weren't suitable, they were just an idea of the size I was after... hence why I posted here looking for suggestions and didn't just buy one of those...0 -
try camera bags - not the little pouches, but the ones that professional photographers carry (used to carry before digital). they also have handy little pockets for extras. salt and pepper sachets, mayo or sauce sachets.0

Do you know for sure that he doesn't like "plain and boring"? The men I know wouldn't be seen dead with a toy car lunchbag or a pretty patterned tote! Most would be more than happy with a tupperware box in a Tesco carrier bag to be honest (and so would I, mind you!).
Edit: if he needs a sturdier bag, I would also go with a cooller bag as in the links you have been given. Or a backpack.0
