Hey.
Indefinite rarely means "for life" and I believe that everyone is going to be reviewed when PIP is introduced in 2013 (although, in what order they're going to reassess people I don't know and I don't know how long it'll take either
).
I'm sure someone will be along to correct me if I'm wrong.:o2019 Wins

I can't see the retired being re-assessed, so some people can breath a sigh of relief.0

I would imagine that at some point it will be reassessed, as all adult working age people on DLA are to be reassessed. I can't see all the reassessments happening in 2013, so I think this is just a starting point. Do you still have the same care and mobility needs?0

I believed that my DLA was for life as thats what my original award stated, its now indefinate without any change in my conditions but because of the change in legislation and it will all change again with PIP, thats the way with benefits, legilation changes and even if conditions dont you can still lose out like in IVB to ESA.0

theres every reason for the retired to be re-assessed,if they can get them off dla and they then apply for and get AA then theres no mobility component to AA
There are no current plans for those of non working age to be re-assessed and Maria Miller (Minister responsible for disabled people) says that the Personal Independence Payment will continue after retirement.
I take it from all that, that current retired people on high rate Mobility will be automatically passported to the high rate of PIP
otherwise there will be a large queue of cars parked around Westminster, with a lot of disabled folk looking for a toilet before quitely handing their car keys back to the nice ConDem people0 -

There is no doubt that when the government roll out the pip then ALL will need to be assessed again as there is going to be no middle ground as there is now with the dla eg middle rate care. U are either going to be more in need or needing some help eg high or lower rate and this will need to be done in sending out these one sided atos doctors. Indeed my wife was re-assessed by these atos doctors and when the question was raised by the questionaire that they fill out in your company. "How far can the CUSTOMER walk?", they had stated that my wife could walk 1600 metres!!. Later on he had stated and I quote "That he could not perform a walking test due to the pain that the CUSTOMER was in!!"
Needless to say we were demoted to a lower rate and had to fight this in the appeal tribunal. The lawyer of the panel had a field day with this quote and had said that this could even be raised as a human rights issue!.
My wife was reinstated to full high rate of both for an indefinate period. Indefinate....I have to laugh when i hear this as my wife has also had to fight cancer in this past year on top of the reat that she has had to suffer. Indefinate in the dwps case however means that they can assess you at any given stage. Your symptoms can change. You could get better, your medication could go down in strength which they would use against you.
Listen to cut a long story short. This country is in a mess, and if there is a pot of money put aside for the disabled and this pot is dry then rightly or wrongly they need to throw people off the benefit or save on costs. They had given atos a new contract last year to roll out these medicals across the board. In fact they have already started the process in the sickness benefit. Be afraid, be very afraid.0 -

I totally agree with this, my MIL get's around £1500 a month in inherited benefits from a major stroke she had befor she turned 60 she is now 75, she has no need for that amount of income, her home has been adapted for her needs and she has a mobilty scooter, In fact 90% of her income over the last 5 years have gone on a houseful of QVC rubbish and various scam artist. Its utter madness that she recives this sort of income.0 -

Seeing that you obviously have a warm and loving relationship to her, can't you persude her to give up these benefits for the sake of the country.0
