Perhaps their practices are no worse than anywhere else but it felt worse. With regards the argument that people have to make an appointment to make sure forms are filled out correctly etc. this isn't the case. People are forced to make appointments so that the branch get the credit for the sale and so that a cross sale can be made.
The policy for the branch I worked in was that you should try to sell something to everyone through the door. Also people would quite happily sell a current account when a savings account was more appropriate because cc's went towards bonus targets and savings didn't.
Some of the individuals in the branch were lovely and very professional but the policies as a whole were immoral!! And don't get me started on the charges for going over ovd limit etc.!
Well, after I've got them for unlawful charges on my current account and credit card with them - I shall be going elsewhere! :j Not that I'd have a choice as they will probably close my account anyway.
I've been with them 7 years and the service has been terrible! :mad:A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0 -
A friend of mine had her mortgage with them, and when her husband died suddenly, the mortgage should have been cleared straight away.
She went up there twice to do their forms after he died, phoned them numerous times and yet still letters (addressed to her late husband) came through the door almost daily stating that Halifax would start action to re-possess the house unless *he* paid the arrears owing on the mortgage.
Official complaints to Head Office did no good - this harassment went on for weeks - despite them saying they would sort it out.
Finally, it was sorted out and the mortgage account cleared, but I would advise anyone wanting finance to steer well clear of them.
We had a savings account with them briefly, but despite having paid in and drawn out regulalry, when we moved and advised them, they told me I didn't exist, but then let me close the account (eh???).
Useless firm.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0
