In 2008 I stopped making payments
There, my friend, is where yourself and many others have fallen. Never ever stop paying until any issues are resolved.
No wonder your credit file is trashed.

Malky yes seriously, it seemed the only way to resolve the problem.

i now realise i was wrong to stop making payment, but at the time i was 4 payments or so of paying off the full finance agreement and i thought once that had been done i would be stuck with a car. obviously i have learnt a lot from my ordeal so far :(

the bit where your annual gross salary was less than a year's loan repayments has me disbelieving you somewhat.

Anyway - if FOS say no go and the solicitor says it is not worth it the only way to repair your credit rating is to pay off the loan.

You're on a non starter if you are thinking of a complete mis-sell.

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    There would be no point.

You don't seem daft - how DID you pay it back each month? I am just curious.

Emmzi . i was daft at the time. i paid each month as i had the money saved in my account ,hence, i wanted to pay cash when i went to the dealership, but the said this would be classed as money laundering and i needed to take out the finance agreement.
