Debate House Prices

Barclays re-enters High LTV Mortgage Market

Ammusingly, this is still going, all because after looking back at the thread I produced I saw, and stated that wotsthat had thanked a post saying that the HSBC 90% LTV was a sh*t deal, therefore suggesting he didn't agree with my thoughts suggesting the HSBC deal was a step forward.
Whereas on this thread he stated (a worse) deal was a sign of confidence in the mortgage market.
Suddenly, I have thanks folders where I note down thanks and a note book to go with it to write notes, and should take a break from the forum as I'm apparently now not only noting down thanks, writing notes on them, but also keeping tabs on the amount of thanks.
Not only that, but I'm apparently also a stalker.
Oh what a to-do.
Out of interest do you take part in amateur dramatics?0 -

Not weird, no. I can see why there are "words" between those who think/want property prices to rise and those who don't. We often see arguments degenerating into childish name calling, I suppose that's understandable given the anonymous nature of this debating arena. A lot of this behavior would almost certainly not take place if we we sat around a table discussing things. I still think I'd end up liking and disliking the same people in real life based on their attitudes and behavior on this forum, but maybe they'd behave differently sat round a table.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0 -

I agree with all of what you've said but to actually separate into 'gangs' and then pidgeon hole people into one gang or the other (not everyone does this to be fair) just because they have a different opinion.
For example, I'm classed as a 'Bull' which came as a surprise to me as I have often been at great pains to mention that the only time I was interested in house prices are when I bought my new house. Even then I was only interested in house prices in my immediate area. I am interested in the stockmarket but I'm actually 'bullish' about that in the short/medium term.
The misuse of the word 'bull' and 'bear' has always grated with me since I found this board. No one is bearish or bullish about a particular market for life.0 -

My favourite term is 'vested interest' on these boards. It's quite a handy phrase for dismissing an argument without actually having to produce any evidence to support a point. It's also a useful insult to use to suggest that another posters opinion is based purely on self-interest.
After all this is a forum that is hidden on a site that requires registration. Who would have thought it would attract people with some sort of vested interest?0 -
I love slow news days, all this navel gazing can be fun0

Could you all stop posting for a moment, I'm having trouble keeping up with creating new columns in my notepad.
Anyone got any codes for Viking? Need to order a couple of new folders and a filing cabinet.0
