    Any recommendations please?

Keycamp have a few sites round Lake Garda. Could also check Siblu, Eurocamp - they are likely to have a few sites there too.

Thanks but I wondered if anyone could recommend any company's accommodation and which site would be best for access to the lake steamers and facilities?
  • A few years back we booked via The Sun £9.50 Holidays and stayed at Bella Italia (they still use this park).
We flew to Brescia Verona via Ryanair and stayed in a static caravan.
We even stumbled across Gardaland whilst out walking.
Very cheap but very enjoyable holiday :)

We are thinking of doing this next year, and have been looking at apartments and villas in the area. Bergamo looks lovely too.

    This is a place friends have stayed at and which they loved and which we will be looking at;

  • I've been to the lake a few times, and we're going back again in July this year.

Unfortunately, it is a very expensive place to stay. We have booked a 2 bedroom apartment in Bardolino, and that costs 1000 Euros per week. If you stay a short drive from the lake then you may find it half that price.

Bardolino would be my first choice. But Lazise is very pretty and there are some nice apartments here:

Virtually all of the resorts have a jetty where the lake boats pick up from, though some have a more regular service than others. Garda, Bardolino, and Sirmione are all more frequent than Lazise.

Easyjet and British Airways fly into Verona, which is the nearest airport, but you could also consider Brescia, Milan (Bergamo), Venice, and Bologna.

    Enjoy :-)

As for the time of year, we've been in May and had glorious weather, and a bit of rain in July, but it's usually very pleasant every day.

    Hi

I am trying to book a visit to Lake Garda next June as a surprise for my daughter and her husband as she went there for her honeymoon and has always talked about going back.

She now has 2 children , aged 7 & 11, and would not go without them so I plan to go as well to mind the kids so that they can go out in the evenings.

However everywhere seems really expensive so I wondered if anyone can recommend anywhere to stay as I am a pensioner and don't have unlimited funds? They stayed near Salo before.

I have been saving airmiles and can use them when they change to Avios to cover flights to Milan and pay the extra.

If possible I would like somewhere from 1st - 10th June as that is when the kids are off school.

    Any advice would be appreciated

I was just wondering if you had managed to book a trip for next June? We are looking at going from the 4th-18th but not sure if this is too early to visit. We will be with our 4 yr old so if you had any tips it would be appreciated. Just about to do my own research but if would be nice to talk to others considering the same trip. thanks.

We stayed at Europa Silvella campsite with Thomson al Fresco. They had an offer on, 2 caravans for the price of 1, we paid £800 for 2 caravans for 2 weeks at the end of June. the kids loved it, it was quite quiet but the pool was great (although you had to wear a swimming cap) and they had a kids club and some kids stuff in the evening (but not like a haven, just for an hour or two).
There is direct access to the lake, which is fab as its not salty or wavy like the sea!

We flew to Bergamo with ryanair and hired a car to get to the campsite. The roads are fine.

I wouldn't recommend the campsite without a car though, it was pretty hot to walk and quite far.

Its about an hour from bergamo airport, not too far. Also the big shopping mall next to the airport is fab.

Thanks so much for the info. Can u recommend the car hire company at Bergamo? We have ended up booking with Eurocamp staying 4th-18th June, did look at Thomsons but they were more expensive for our dates. It is Half term week whilst we are there so there is hardly any availability for our dates. I am looking forward to it, now to start on the planning and places we want to visit :D
  • We stayed here a few years ago http://www.weekend.it/en/ we booked direct and got cheap flights to begarmo
