Packing clothing

I bought a £350 custom made designer dress from Norway and it just came wrapped in one layer of thick paper and I have honestly never been so worried in my life!
As far as I'm concerned, zips and buttons should be covered with tissue paper then it should be folded neatly around a piece of cardboard (to keep it folded nicely) and then in a waterproof bag. I've never had a problem with ones which smell of smoke so I couldn't really advise you on that.0 -
Generally the coloured ones don't smell, so I use them whereas the black and grey ones are the culprits0

I buy the 6 plastic mailing bags for £1 from Poundworld. Does the job for me. I usually wrap clothes in a layer of coloured tissue first and then the plastic mailing bag. I had the problem with the bags filling with air but solved that by squeezing the parcel as flat as possible and then taping the sealed edges to stop the air coming back in. I find that by doing that, many of my clothes parcels can pass as large letters rather than packets and it saves quite a bit on postage. I avoid brown paper where possible as I don't seem to be able to get any to pass as large letters when they are wrapped in brown paper. I've been selling clothes on ebay now for over 10 years.
I once had a problem with the blue mailing bags I bought on ebay letting rain water in during the postal process so i've avoided them like the plague ever since and always tape up any edges of the Poundworld bags just to be on the safe side.I've worked in the Financial Services industry for the last 25 years. Thank you all, last time I sold clothes I used jiffy bags from the pound shop, will have a look tomorrow for the mailing bags.0

I didn't know Poundland sold plastic mailers...I'll have a look out. I use their jiffy bags and they're great.0

Our local poundland only does the plastic mailers occasionally, they're white and generally hidden under a load of other junk!0
