Hi I've been getting the BSOD seemingly caused by 'ntkrnlpa.exe could anyone recommend any driver software? There seems to be a lot out there that misinforms you of which drivers actually need updating! just so that you purchase their product.
My OS is Vista & all updates are installed. Is there any free software out there?
Thx

ntkrnlpa.exe is normally related to external devices or wireless cards. Is this a laptop? Do you have any external drives / USB connected? You could try upgrading the driver for your wireless card if this is a laptop.
In addition, the dump file after a BSOD will be in the root of the system folder C:\windows probably and end with the extension .dmp. Can you find that and post it?
If not, run a program called "whocrashed" (http://www.resplendence.com/whocrashed). It gives you a much easier read of the reason for the crash.0 -
Hi thx for your quick reply, no its not a laptop. This is from program 'Whocrashed'

And do you have any external devices plugged in (harddrive, usb stick, etc). Windows is struggling to determine the power state of a device. Can you access windows update to see if any driver updates are listed?0

No external devices. Can access updates & are up to date. I've checked the hard drive for errors, nothingjoe2cool0

ok, can you try "Whocrashed" for me to see if you get anything more specific.0

Conclusion
2 crash dumps have been found and analyzed. A third party driver has been identified to be causing system crashes on your computer. It is strongly suggested that you check for updates for these drivers on their company websites. Click on the links below to search with Google for updates for these drivers:
ntkrpamp.exe
If no updates for these drivers are available, try searching with Google on the names of these drivers in combination the errors that have been reported for these drivers and include the brand and model name of your computer as well in the query. This often yields interesting results from discussions from users who have been experiencing similar problems.
Read the topic general suggestions for troubleshooting system crashes for more information.
Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is actually responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.

Download, install, update and run a Quick Scan with Malwarebytes' AntiMalware. When complete, choose 'Remove Selected' if there is anything to remove and Reboot your computer.
After restart, open the program again and go to 'Logs'. Double click on the log produced for today and post the contents here.
Next, download and save both the Installer and the executable of HijackThis and use the Quick Start guide to enable you to produce a log for posting here too. You'll need to install(the installer) and run the(.exe as Administrator by right clicking on the downloaded .exe file and choosing 'Run as Administrator once downloaded and saved.)
Want to check if you have any more obvious conflicts....like running two antivirus solutions...0 -
Hi along with a anti-virus scan I've already ran Malwarebytes & nothing is infectedjoe2cool0
