Girders: The photos look amazing! Nothing like the dive we did in Tenerife! Although I think as a 'taster' dive it probably did the job as we both really enjoyed it, and were thinking of going somewhere that we can see something more 'exotic' and with clearer waters etc.

helen81 - I was thinking of Egypt too, although with the stories in the papers of late it put me off a little. I used to work in Thomsons and there was a time where visitors to Egypt had to have a police escort on the transport bus! Does anyone know if anything like that still goes on? Also, what would be the best resort in Egypt for this? I hear a lot of people speak of Sharm el Shiek but is this becoming overly 'touristy' ?

Don't go to Cyprus! It's a dump! Kos is good for diving. I'd only stay around Kos town though, the rest of the island is a bit dull, like Cyprus I suppose. Corfu is nice, Turkey is ok in places, the people are a bit pushy though. Barbados, a lot dearer, people are pushy, but omg, nothing like diving in those crystal clear waters. Have been to many places, but tend to go back to the greek islands - you can get luxury and good scenery etc for a good price.

If you go to Egypt, stay in the resort unless you are really gutsy. We had armed convoys to escort us whenever we went on a coach trip.
