living at home but recieve no income from parents

Options
hi, i live at home so due to the income assessment i recieve nothing in the way of grants or anything, i get a decent loan and a loan for the tuition fees but was wondering if there were any other options available. i get no money off my parents.

i looked at moving out and paying a little bit of rent at one of my mates` house but i need to be financially independant for 2 to 3 years before i see any benefit of that so theres no point doing that.

i dont mean to whinge but it seems wrong that the government simply assumes that because your parents have a decent income they are going to contribute towards your uni costs, so is there any options available to me?

thanks in advance :D

So you have 2 jobs.....what do you need money from the government for?

Its just one of those things, I live away from home and get no help from my parents. I am only eligible for the non means tested loan because of their income. I was looking at my loan assessment today, says I should get £3500 or something from them!? Its through choice though, they would give me money if I asked for it but instead I budget.

Do your parents feed you, allow you to wash, have heating, lighting, a bed etc - all of those things are their contribution it doesn't have to be monetary - seriously though, if you lived in halls you would be paying £100 a week or so for such things so you are better off than many in your position who have to live away from home. Unfortunately the days of 'free' uni are over
;) If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

It's you with the problem not me kiddo

You didn't mention in the OP that you were working, so I'm sorry by advsing you to get a job meant you had to be rude to me, calling me smartypants!

Maybe there are things you could qualify for if you weren't working, I don't have a clue, so I'd suggest you edit your OP so people can help your further.

I'm not giving you stick silly, I just didn't realise you were already working as that seems the only way to boost your income at the moment.

You might find something on the link, worth a try anyway.

    Good Luck :)
