If you change your mind:think:
£150 per night...that must be a very nice tip0 -
Malmaison all the way - I did my doctorate in Oxford, and left just before it was finished. Made sure I stayed there on my next visit - FANTASTIC!!!!!!
The first few series of Bad Girls were filmed there when it was still an out of use prision!April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200 -
Well, I don't know about the OP, but I booked Malmaison!
Got a room, next Sunday, for £85 through https://www.hotels.com. The Malmaison site itself doesn't appear to offer any discounts, even though they send me emails professing to
There's also nothing in the way of bigger, better rooms at a discount at hotels.com, but I'll try to upgrade when we get there.
Well, next step for me is to find the cheapest, preferably free parking as I don't mind walking a bit or maybe catching a bus (though we're pushing it here!) if I can put the money saved towards a bottle of champers.
Anybody know the city well enough to help please?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Oxford is notorious for expensive parking. Summertown used to be a good bet - Linton Road and around... Then you have a 15 min walk to the centre. HOWEVER, they were talking about extending permit parking into Summertown, so not sure how viable this is any more...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200 -

I'm afraid theres no such thing as free or cheap parking in Oxford. The best place I can think of is one of the Park & Ride's. You pay 60p for up to 24 hours parking plus the bus ride into the city centre itself which is around £2 return? (you could walk but you're looking at up to half an hours walking) Don't whatever you do park in the Multi-storey as incredibly expensive. Sorry I can't think of any longer term parking than that, maybe Malmaison will be able to give you a few ideas when you get there!
Have fun!0 -

Free parking.Surely you can afford £10 a day for parking? At £85 for one night

That's a bit rude isn't it? Yes I can afford parking but my car wasn't really bothered where it spent the night, last time I asked it. I'm not going to waste money just for the sake of it - after all, this is MSE!
Thanks for the quidco tip off. I might just see if I can rebook and then cancel my original booking.

If you decide to cancel the booking make sure you clear your cookies as you have already visited the hotels website before you get onto Quidco.
Maybe I should be more considerate in members looking for better deals. In anycase it's your night to spend in style and be pampered.Whether it's a hotel, shop item or flight it's the same.I should of had more thought in helping you.
Maybe you might not want to walk in to the town centre after all that romantic relaxing.
A slap up meal may also be on the menu.Don't tell me you're using the Mcdonalds.Where's your style?
I'll see if there's a discount coupon in the D&V section.
Still not sure how much a moneysaver should leave as a tip at such a classy
hotel.I would be embarrassed to leave £2.Probably best given to the Big Issue seller is you see one.
Have a great time and take the advice of the Park And Ride posted earlier(but it won't be in style)
I would check out to see if the doorman can call you a bus to save you the parking.:rotfl:
Wow!We 've just be told our baby is 4mm(ok the baby is only 6 weeks).I wonder if we should call it Travelodge.
the original post might not be that out of order but this rant certainly is. reported to abuse. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
