What's your budget?0

budget of £150ish per night0

The new Malmaison there looks fabulous! It used to be a prison and the rooms used to be cells!
I really want to go! In fact, I may just bite the bullet; I'm due a romantic escape!

Was a prison and still looks like one!
This one is just slighty over your budget. But it is very good and friendly.

There is the Randolph but from what I remember it was worn out and nothing special.0 -
Not sure of cost per night, but the Eastgate hotel (http://www.e-travelguide.info/eastgate/index.htm) is pretty central and a good place to stay. If you didn't mind being a little out of the city (within walking distance, but on a bus route) then there's the Oxford Spires Four Pillars on the Abingdon Road (http://www.four-pillars.co.uk/Spires/home.html).
Would steer away from the Randolph - supposed to be good, but not really value for money.
When I worked in Oxford the hotels of choice for visitors were the Old Parsonage and the Bath Place Hotel (http://www.oxfordcity.co.uk/hotels/bathplace/)
Hope this helps!

I live in Oxford and the most popular ones I can think of are:
The Four Pillars on Abingdon Road. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the centre from there.
The Malmaison is new and is in the centre of Oxford and has quite a few restaurants and bars right next to it. (I'd like to stay there if I didn't already live in Oxford!) If you don't end up staying here it's still worth a visit for sightseeing purposes.
The Randolph is also in the centre but it doesn't live up to expectations.
Good luck and I hope you have a great time!

I stayed in the Malmaison a few months ago and it's fantastic — a stunning conversion and it's where they filmed the prison scenes in The Italian Job. Should fall within your budget and definitely worth the money.0

I was going to suggest the Malmaison also... however, as an alternative, how about the Royal Oxford... it's near all the colleges... here's a map showing it (and other hotels):

That area is pretty grotty and is on as big road junction with the train station on the opposite side.0
