Downloading Legend of Mir 3

My son is downloading Legend of Mir 3 and it is meant to take 40+ hours (?!!!) on broadband. It keeps stopping at 1%-2% saying something like "connection to the server was reset". Is this their problem or our computer?

Who is your ISP?

Do they reset the connection every couple of hours as some ISPs do?

You might be able to get round it with a product like Download Accelerator, which allows resumption of Downloads.

DA is a form os spyware though, but a pretty benign one that can be removed once you have the download.

gozilla is another good'un, that handles broken downloads.

Isn't gozilla full of spyware?
I used to use star downloader before I had BB. No spyware or adware.

He is now trying the download again- meant to be up to 400% faster, using star downloader.

I think you should take the speed increase claims with a pinch of salt, but the resume function is something that sounds like would benefit you.

It took 17 hours to download and now we can't get it to open/run. Any ideas?

What error message do you get when you try to run it?

There's no error message, when you click open nothing happens.

He's just been told he needs WINRAR to open it. (Trial version.)
