I usually find that two word response relating to sex and travel has the desired effect with these intolerable outfits.

It hardly puts Sky in a good light either, they are clearly giving ( read selling ) customers info to other companies.

Personally I would never deal with companies connected to the Murdoch Empire.

i started having the same calls, i told them no i didnt want any extended warrantys and as my contract had expired if my sky box broke i would simply cancle my subscribtion, then take out a new contract after a short period, therefore becoming a new customer and being entitled to a new box.. they didnt know what to say to that and have never called me back again

The correct answer to your response is to point out that the terms and conditions of the introductory offer is that it is limited to one per household and therefore you cannot do what you suggest - looking at other posts here Sky are even starting to enforce it too now

I have never bothered with their insurance policy, if I ever have a problem with my SKY I phone them up and say I wish to cancel, when they ask why I tell them it isn't working. At first they offer to send somebody round at your expense. Politely refuse and say you wish to cancel you subscription. After a short while they will put you through to a nice Scottish lady who will send somebody around for free to repair or replace your SKY box at no cost to you.

I used to get letters from a similar company and I asked where they got my number from I don't have sky (a Lie) they apologised and said that they send the letter to everyone even people without sky. I thold them to remove me from the mailing list and I haven't had anything since

We have had a few phone calls from "Digital Satellite Services" and a couple of letters.

The letter says "final reminder" in red and they very kindly send you a pre-paid envelope. So I sent the letter back (tearing off my address details, so they can't trace it back to me) and also sent them a few extra presents from my recycling box, curry menus and the like.

  • I think the key buzz-phrase to look out for on calls of this nature is in the introduction. It's usually along the lines of "on behalf of Sky" rather than "from Sky" so that they are covering themselves.

I always take that as a cue to start asking them questions & shift the focus of the call with the following:
    me - "on behalf of?"
    call centre operative - "errrrrrr......ermmmmmmmmm,,,,yes"
me - "so....you don't actually work for (company name) then?"
    call centre operative - "ermmmmmm......no"

At this point, you have them on the hop. It will generally come out that they are working for some sort of external telesales agency. I'm never rude, I've been in the unfortunate position of doing telephone work myself in the past. But, it does help if you can dispel the myth that people are calling you from a company when they are not.

I was getting several calls each day from them for at least a month always around the same time of day.I have now put their number on my phone with id recognition and a identifying ring tone so that we can ignore them.
