What about contacting some of the breed clubs, they might be able to advise?

Steph W, ( does the w stand for w***er), we are not being over protective just imagine yourself being knocked flying by a horse ( relative size comparison of dog to baby) how do you think you'd fare? So whose the dimwit? Steph W***er

Simply by posting, you are inviting other people to give their opinion, if you don't like it, ignore it, please don't come back in such an aggresive manner.

Many people feel very strongly about what they perceive to be cruelty to dogs (I know it's not real cruelty, but many will think it's no better). However, it's unnecessary and unpleasant to call people dimwits and w***ers just because you don't like what they say.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

The OP came here to ask for help, not to be put down for his choice.

There is always a reson behind a choice, such as mine, its not just a bit of dog hair (well I say a bit, I have to hoover 3 times a day!) which, even though we do segrigate her (which she hates) the hair still travels, I even found her hair in my food on holiday  but she also has taken to peeing and poohing in the bedrooms, and even though she is fully trained and fit and healthy, she is doing this now.

I did not take on this dog by choice, I don't want a dog, my mum moved to Spain and left her with me. I am only going to home her somewhere close so that if she is in any way unhappy, she can come back.

I am in no way making this choice lightly, and I am sure the OP isn't, at the end of the day, his children take precident over a dog, its a horrible thing to imagine, but its true.

try dog training classes!!!!! I think its disgusting that people will dump a dog as soon as a baby comes along.
I find it disgusting that people wouldnt put their childs safety before an animal.. so they are doing the sensible thing!.. they r not dumping it they r making a well thought out hard decision for their childs safety and well being!

I don't think anyone is saying that the dog is more important than the child. But let's not forget that from what the OP has said, the dog hasn't actually done anything! He said its boisterous, and clumsy but so are lots of dogs. My dog is clumsy but he is excellent with our friend's 1yr old daughter, we just have to watch them both to ensure she doesn't poke him or pull his tail etc and watch where our dog is going to make sure he doesn't knock her over by mistake.

I'm not commenting on the OP here, but I don't think you can say that just because someone doesn't dump a dog or have it PTS they are doing the responsible thing. By giving up a dog to a rescue you are ultimately passing responsibility of that dog to an organisation who will have to pick up the pieces of whatever problems the dog may have. They will have to pay to look after it for however many months or years it takes to re-home and cover any vets bills and neutering necessary.

This may not be how it was meant, but it makes me angry when people say things like 'they could have dumped it, or had it put down' as if the dog is supposed to be grateful to be given to a rescue centre!!
  • And i suppose all you bloody do-gooders would put the dog before the human!!!!!!!!!

I definately would. Humans are crap! :)

We don't want to put osacar in a rescue centre, we want to rehome him, i personally would like him to go to someone we know. or lives nearby so that we would know how he was doing.
  • We gave our greyhound away when our son was born as she had never had any contact with young children. I don't see why there is such an uproar about the OP putting the child first. Of course the child is more important - I can't imagine why anyone would not think so!

I personally would try word of mouth, our greyhound went to a friend of ours who came to walk her every day for a month brfore he took her permanently; she lived with him until she died at the ripe old age of 14.
