If you had 1 yrs NCB, and someone hit you, so you claimed from there insurer (doing it yourself and telling my own insurer i was handling it myself), would you lose your NCB as you made a claim against the other side (all above board and other side admits liable, etc).... just curious as to how it works!

Your NCB relates to any claims made against your policy (not any claims you make against a third party).

i think i will contact my current insurer and let them know that a claim had been paid out against me. and i should keep my ncb since nov 2010 giving me 1 year at least. the current renewal is just under £800 and i have found a deal for £890 with my current situation. worst case i witch over

Be prepared for them wanting a big premium adjustment + admin fee for your current year's cover (as your current premium was based on you having 2 years NCD, when you will now be telling them you actually had none!)

As previously posted, you have a decision to make over this!

But you did disclose the claim to your current insurer, so cannot have any comeback over non disclosure whatever your decision.

Your proof is 3 years, so that is what you have! If you want to have a proof that says one year, then you need to contact your current insurer, and be prepared to pay the increased premium etc for the current year.

You still need to disclose the accident.

When you say "paid out" what do you mean? You have informed them about the claim, which is all you have to do.
