Hi
Can anyone give advice on the following. A reason to be clamped is taking up 2 parking spaces, can anyone define taking up 2 parking spaces.
My son parked at the Marco Island car park in Nottingham, he was clamped for parking over bay. The fact is that he was parked on the line and not over it. He had to pay a fine of £147 even though it stated £140 on the warning sign.
Any advice would be greatfull. Thanks.

aren't you supposed to park between the lines?0

Sensible advice only please0

How about you tell us what answers you want then and what you think is sensible?
If you park on the line you're obstructing a car from parking in the next bay as you're too close, which could be why they've clamped him for taking up two bays.0 -
but surely parking on the line does not take up 2 bays0

I thought clamping had been banned, maybe someone else will know?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

it doesn't take up two bays but it often renders the other bay unusable, as you can't safely get in it and leave enough space between cars on each side. If you were in the car park and saw a car parked on the line, most people would look for another space where there's more room. (tight squeeze, car doors etc)
I don't know if it is the same in real situations but on driving tests you have to park between the lines.0 -

Firstly, you are not dealing with a reasonable company, all clamper's are just after one thing... your cash! The fact is your son gave them an excuse to stick a clamp on the car and ask him for money.
Do you have photo's of the car insitu? Why did he end up one the line, was it because of other cars in the bays either side? Do you have photo's of this?
If you are thinking of suing, then you will have to sue the clamper and the company that hired them, because the clamping companies routinely ignore CCJ's anyway and have no assets. If you want to sue then you will get could advice over on https://www.pepipoo.com on how to go about it, but it could be a long process and you might not get your money back!0 -

Never renders the bay unusable to me; in fact, it makes it more attractive. However, it does make the vehicle of the bad parker inaccessible afterwards!0 -
Yes he has photos, i do feel this is unfair, I was wondering if anyone else had challenged a clamping company for something similar and won.0
