Maxium Boot Carry Weight

Do you think it is safe to carry say 75KG (3 x 25KG bags) in the boot of a Peugeot 206?

Distance will be less than 2 miles.

I did a little Google but didn't come up with much.

Yes, that's the weight of one average passenger.

you'd be in trouble if you couldn't.
  • You'd probably be alright up to 200kg ish in something like that but check the manufacturers max weight if you are worried.

Or the weight of one dead body!
  • i allway find when wondering what you can carry is to convert it into people. you would think twice about putting 3 people in back seat and that would be an easy 200kg unless children. hell im over 100kg on me own lol
  • Hehe!

In that case I may carry more to save on extra trips.

It is bags of solid fuel.

You need to watch the cars gross vehicle weight and the rear axle maximum load weight.

Adding 75kg to the boot would be like adding 2 75kg passengers on the back seat. Think of
a seesaw. Adding weight further back puts more leverage on the axle increasing its load.

  • I can put the back seats down and spread the weight out.
  • yep thats best way. or even stick a blanket on y aback seat and stick 2 bags on there and then a couple in ya boot. if you can get it into rear footwells even better as its near center of car and spreads weight out even more. personally i wouldnt think twice about putting 1 in each foot well 2 on back seat and 2 in boot :)

depending on how big ya footwells are of course :)
  • Just pile it in. Had 550kg in the wifes car once and 300kg in my old corsa b (all eveny distributed).
