Bear in mind there's a general UK internet problem around at the moment, due to issues at the main Birmingham hub and some of the smaller ones down south. It's affecting some ISPs more than others, and some websites more than others. This has been ongoing since the back end of last week. So don't be too hasty in writing off your router. Which model netgear (incl. version number) is it ???

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

Thanks its a netgear 834g v5, yes I have switched it on and off, and it does seem to speed up when I do it but that only lasts 5 minutes or so, its only on certain sites others are fine.

In some sites I have to open the same site in another window to get it to work, or stop it from loading (when nothing is happening) press reload and it will come on straight away, have run malwarebytes and it was fine, and like I said I have a new laptop and that seemed slow as well.

these are exactly the symptoms of this outage, so bear with it until it's all sorted, THEN look at fw updates/new routers if needs be :)
