Any particular reason why you want Netgear? Do you need wireless capabilities?

This DGN1000 does me fine, but don't know what you require from your router.

do you have a wireless one already, if so, little point buying a new one unless you have a reason

if you don't have a wireless one, ask your isp for a free one

Some pages are taking ages to load, I have also just bought a new laptop and tried that and its exactly the same, so I figured it must be the router as its about 3 years old?
  • Before buying a new router (which I have some doubts will cure your problem) the most obvious thing to do is update the firmware.

On the management page of my Netgear DG834 there is a firmware version. I was having problems with my router which were solved by uploading new firmware.

This might be worth trying first.

    Firmware...
    Or DGN2000
  • Good advice from I'm Just Careful.

A few points to bear in mind when updating your router firmware to avoid "bricking" it.

    1. Be sure to get the correct firmware for your Netgear, model and version Number. Check here http://support.netgear.com/app/products/list/p3/161/eol/1

    2. Back up your existing router settings, just in case things go wrong.

    3. When doing the update log in to your router interface using Internet Explorer, NOT FF, Opera, or any other browser.

    4. Do the update connecting the router to the PC/ laptop via an ethernet cable, NOT wireless.

Hope that offers some help, and hopefully solves your problem.

have you turned it off and back on again?

could also be pc software related, especially if you have the same av/firewall on both machines, or could you your isp or general net problems, or a wireless issue - try it wired and post a hijackthis log if you want suggestions about machine setup
